Riverside to transition Resolve Center to Iroquois Mental Health Center

KANKAKEE, IL (October 24, 2018) - Riverside Healthcare and the Iroquois Mental Health Center (IMHC) have announced Riverside will be turning over ownership of its Resolve Center in Manteno to IMHC, a Watseka-based provider of mental health and substance abuse services with facilities in Iroquois, Kankakee, Vermillion and Will counties.

"This is about finding the best way to serve those with addiction issues," said Riverside Healthcare President and CEO Phil Kambic. "We realize that sometimes our role is to find trusted partners that we can work with to ensure the services that are most needed are available, and we are working with Iroquois Mental Health Center to do just that."

Riverside's Resolve Center provides treatment services for adolescents (ages 12 to 18) with alcohol and other substance abuse issues. The transition to IMHC should be completed by the end of the year.

"We are excited at the opportunity to expand the care we can provide," said IMHC Executive Director Dr. Dennis Hopkins. "Our mission is to help individuals deal effectively with the difficulties that may arise in their lives. This will allow us to bring that care to even more people and we welcome that chance."

Incorporated in 1971, IMHC provides a complete array of mental health services. Along with the main facility in Watseka, additional clinics are located in Hoopeston, Onarga, Clifton, Cissna Park, Sheldon, Loda, Milford, Manhattan and Monee. Services include outpatient therapy for adults, adolescents, and children and substance abuse outpatient therapy for adults and teens.

"We have complete faith in Dennis (Dr. Hopkins) and his staff to assess the community and make sure the programs that are most needed are provided and individuals get the help they need. That will, in turn, make for a stronger, healthier community."

IMH AND RIVERSIDE SIGN LETTER OF INTENT

– Officials at Iroquois Memorial Hospital (IMH) and Riverside Healthcare each signed a non-binding Letter of Intent this week to explore merging IMH into Riverside Healthcare.

“We are very excited about exploring what this could mean,” said Phil Kambic, president and CEO of Kankakee-based Riverside Healthcare.  “We have served the residents of Watseka and Iroquois County in various capacities for many years.  This opportunity allows us to examine how we might shift that model and work with the dedicated team at Iroquois Memorial to find new and better ways to meet the healthcare needs of the community.”

The Letter of Intent gives both organizations the chance to work confidentially to explore the possible merger.

“The board, physicians, and staff of Iroquois Memorial Hospital continue their deep commitment to having quality healthcare in our community,” said Tim Smith, president and CEO of IMH.  “As we look to the future, we believe we need a partner to effectively advance our mission.  Having had conversations over the years with Riverside about what the future of healthcare might look like in this community, we felt now was the right time to explore the merger.”

While no specific timeline for the merger was released, the due diligence process and review by regulatory bodies could conclude by the first quarter of 2019.  “This process is just getting started,” said Kambic. “But as we move forward, I anticipate this to be a very exciting and rewarding chapter for Riverside, IMH and the residents of Iroquois County.”
