Jacob “Jake” Peters, 76, of Clifton passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021 at his residence. He was born on September 20, 1945 in Kankakee, the son of Clarence H. and Margaret P. (Hebert) Peters and they preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one unborn child.

Jake married Debra Meier on December 22, 1979 in Ashkum and she survives. In addition to his wife, Debbie, he is survived by two sons, Adam Peters of Norwich, CT and Levi (Casey) Peters of Chebanse; three daughters, Brianna Peters of Ashkum, Laura (Spencer) Tuntland of Chebanse, and Josie Peters of Clifton; and six sisters and four brothers.

Mr. Peters served in the Army Reserve from 1966-1971. He was a member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church in Ashkum. Jake sold real estate and was the owner and operator of the Land Office in Clifton. He was a retired custodian from Central High School after many dedicated years. Jake will always be remembered as an avid outdoorsman.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Assumption BVM Catholic Church in Ashkum with Fr. Ron Neitzke officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Clifton with graveside military rites by Central VFW Post 2131 and Ashkum American Legion Post 643.

Eleanor “Jean” Taylor, 85, died Friday, September 24, 2021 at Faith Place in Danforth.

She was born March 3, 1936, south of Ambia, IN, the daughter of Parley and Pearl Lowe. Jean married James Taylor in Watseka on August 6, 1955 and he preceded her in death on October 24, 2006.

She is survived by two daughters and two sons, Teresa (Craig) Keith; Jeff (Mandy) Taylor; Tom (Kim) Taylor; and Penny (Darrell) Taylor-Burden, all of Watseka; one brother, Jack (Marilyn) Lowe of Danville; one sister, Sandra Lowe of Watseka; two grandchildren, Brittany (Ben) Norgaard and Cole Taylor, both of Watseka; one great granddaughter, Addison Norgaard; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one grandson.

Jean was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and attended the Watseka Congregation. She enjoyed raising her family and working at home, along with camping, cooking, cleaning, and helping others.

Elna M. Davis, 94, of Watseka passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at AMITA Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee.

Elna was born on December 8, 1926 in Oakwood Twp., the daughter of Carl E. Liggett and Myrtle A. (Alverson). She married Edward A. Davis on January 18, 1946 in Westville and he preceded her in death in August 2001 along with two brothers, Merle and Carl Jr.; and two sisters, Margaret and Evelyn.

She is survived by two sons, Carl “Whitey” (Alice) Davis of Watseka and Donald G. (Sonia)Davis of Gridley; one brother, Dean (Karen) Liggett of Gilbertsville, KY; two sisters, Linda (Bill) Ingram of Catlin and Marilyn (Michael) Gehring of Galesburg, IL; one brother-in-law, Loyal Davis of Broadlands, IL; six grandchildren, Christine (Scott) Flota of Watseka, Tammy (Wayne) Hickman of Watseka, Matthew (Kristin) Davis of Watseka, Scott (Caryn) Davis of Bloomington, Tim (Kathleen) Davis of Lexington, Susanna Foster of Kentland, IN; 10 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Elna was a member of Pittwood Christian Church since 1952, Order of the Eastern Star, lifetime member of NEA, IEA, IRTA, and member of the IMHA and Iroquois County Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and watching the Cubs.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the 12:00 funeral service on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Jim Davis will officiate. Burial will follow at Embury Chapel Cemetery in Hope, IL.

Keith L. Tatro, 83, of Danvers, IL passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at his residence.

Keith was born May 13, 1938, the son of Leroy and Nedra (Turner) Tatro. He married Joyce Peterson in Lerable on March 2, 1957 and she preceded him in passing August 27, 1994. He later married Linda Watts on May 10, 2004 in Wichita, KS.

Surviving is his wife, Linda Tatro of Danvers; three daughters, Tracy (Kent) Saxsma of Ashkum, Kelly (Larry) Bauer of Clifton, and Jenny (Eric) Post of Danvers; 8 grandchildren, Jessica Meents, Lyndsi (Ryan) Kime, Heidee Gocken, Jordan Lehmkuhl, Christopher Bauer, Morgan Johnson, Katie (Matt) Wiemer, Wes (Crystal) Post, twenty great grandchildren; one brother, Duane (Betty) Tatro; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Joyce; one grandson, Cody Lehmkuhl; one sister, Barbara Mahoney.

He was a member of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local, Chebanse American Legion, and Chebanse Lions Club. Keith was a girl’s softball coach for eighteen years. He served many years on the Otto Twp. Fire Dept and was former Mayor of Chebanse and he loved fishing and hunting. Keith just celebrated 48 years of sobriety.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Committal services at Evergreen Cemetery will be at a later date.

Doris M. Knapp, 96 of Cissna Park passed away on Monday September 20, 2021 at Heritage Health in Hoopeston. She was born on September 25, 1924 in Rantoul a daughter of Everett and Nelle Rusk Williams. Doris married Melvin A. Knapp in Peoria on September 27, 1941 and he preceded her in death on November 15, 1995. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and two sisters. Survivors include three daughters- Joyce (Skip) Gharst of Loda, Gloria (Randy) Feder of Florence, KY, and Connie (Hector) Medina of Houston, TX; one son-Robert Knapp of Cissna Park; nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Friday September 24, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Cissna Park with ministers of the church officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, also at the cemetery.

Robert E. Grimes, 86, of Watseka passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.

He was born on October 19, 1934 in Watseka, the son of Aaron and Evangeline (Mowrey) Grimes and they preceded him in death along with one brother, four sisters; one granddaughter; one grandson and one great-grandson.

He married Beverly J. Paro on September 11, 1954 in Watseka and she survives in Watseka. Other survivors include one daughter, Becky (Chad) Munsterman of Momence; two sons, Robert “Bubba” (Roxanne) Grimes of Watseka and Brian (Debi) Grimes of Watseka; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Robert was a member of Cornerstone Ministries in Woodland. He was a gentle giant who loved his church family, children, and grandchildren.

Annetta J. Allen, 90, of Watseka passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Gilman Nursing Home in Gilman. She was born on June 1, 1931 in Stockland Twp., the daughter of Alvin and Rebecca (McCormick) Wright. She married Harold Allen in Milford on September 16, 1950 and he preceded her in passing on March 23, 1976. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother; three sisters; one son, Ricky; one daughter, Deborah; and one granddaughter, Rebecca.

She is survived by two daughters, Cheri Noerenberg of Watseka and Christina Carlson of Thawville; one brothers, Frank Wright; two grandchildren, Mandy Noerenberg and Rick Nolte; eight great grandchildren, Samantha, Lance, Haley, Jordan, Dalton, Kloe, Dominick, and Trenton; and one great great grandson, Tristen.

Annetta enjoyed reading, puzzle books, and crafts. She loved to bird watch and liked gameshows.

Services will take place at a later date at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Stockland.

James Earl Wright, 83, of Woodland passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at his home in Woodland. He was born on April 28, 1938 in Clinton County, KY, the son of Roy and Dorothy (Cross) Wright. He married Helen McCann in Hoopeston on November 8, 1958 and she preceded him in passing on March 16, 2006. He later married Wilda Fuoss in Tipton, IN on March 26, 2007.

Surviving are his wife, Wilda Fuoss Wright of Woodland; one son, Stanley L. Wright of Woodland; three daughters, Sandra (James) Shreves of Nashville, TN, Dawn “Renee” (David) Anderson of Hatton, ND, and Sherri (Donald) Gerdes of Thawville; daughter in law, Chris Fuoss of Roberts; three brothers, Fred (Thelma) Wright of Milford, Carl (Jeannie) Wright of Maryland, and Marvin (Debbie) Wright of Watseka; two sisters, Grace Brown of Hoopeston and Wanda (Larry) Wallace of Hoopeston; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-nine great grandchildren.

Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Helen; two sons, James Dale Wright and David Fuoss; one infant son, Steven; daughter in law, Judy Wright; grandson, Dillon Anderson; and brother, George Wright.

He worked until his retirement at Union Pacific Railroad for thirty-nine years. James loved fishing, camping, and playing guitar and singing. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Michael David Rutledge of Paxton, IL and formerly of Milford, IL passed away on September 13, 2021. He succumbed to complications of COVID 19. He was 43 years old.

Michael was born April 25, 1978 in El Paso, TX. He was raised in Milford by Don Rutledge and Rhonda (Steve) Wilken-Rutledge-Arseneau.
Michael is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Rybarczyk) Rutledge; one son, Cody Winter; one daughter, Anne Rutledge; his mother, Rhonda (Steve) Arseneau; his father, Don Rutledge; his brothers, Gordon Green, George Green, Jermy (Lori) Green, Jesse Rutledge, Justin Rutledge, Matthew Arseneau; one sister, Darlene (Roberto) Green-Valletta; and his best friend, Alberto (Kenia) Martinez of Milford.

Michael grew up Christian and was surrounded by a large family. He started out on the farm and then moved into town. Growing up like any Midwesterner would, he played baseball, joined cub scouts, and later onto the bigger sports. He couldn’t hide his love for football and lived for those Friday Night Lights. That passion was soon filled by the need to service his country and see the world.

Michael joined the United States Army in June of 1997, a few months after graduating High School. He became an All Wheeled/Tracked Diesel Mechanic and Recovery Specialist as well as a Unit Armor.

Michael served three enlistments with over eight deployments. He received the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Purple Heart, Army Achievement Medal (3), Army Good Conduct Medal (4), National Defense Service Medal (2), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Oversees Service Ribbon (3), Kosovo Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, NATO Medal (2), Combat Action Badge, and the Driver and Mechanic Badge.

Michael was also a Drill Sergeant and a Combat First Responder with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He even earned his Gold and Silver Spurs with his Calvary Unit.

As a civilian, Michael earned his Mechanic Double ASE, Certified Master Automobile Certification. He closed up his tool box professionally and packed his gear away to focus on raising his two kids – Cody Winter and Anne Rutledge along side his wife, Rebecca (Rybarczyk) Rutledge. He tried his best to lead by example and through it all, his love for his family, his friends, and life in general never faltered.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the 3:00 p.m. funeral service on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Milford Christian Church with Rev. Brent Zastrow officiating. Military rites will follow at 3:30 p.m. by Cissna Park American Legion Post #527.

Verlin J. Lucht, 87, of Watseka passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the Iroquois Resident Home in Watseka. He was born on December 18, 1933 in Watseka, the son of Peter and Helen (Garrelts) Lucht and they preceded him in death.

Verlin is survived by one sister, Joan (Dewaine) VanHoveln of Milford; two nieces, Theresa (Arlyn) Anderson and Denise (Larry) Burton; five nephews, Thomas (Girtie) VanHoveln, Brian (Katie) VanHoveln, Anthony (Anna) VanHoveln, Nathan VanHoveln, and Matthew (Sharon) VanHoveln.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Schwer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Schwer with Pastor Steven Jensen officiating. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church.

Loretta Jean “Lori” Stock, 63, of Towanda gained her wings as the angels picked her up and took her to Heaven to be with Jesus on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.

Lori was born on March 3, 1958 in Tuscola, the daughter of James and Maxine (Thompson) Kingery and they preceded her in death. She married Steven Stock on July 28, 1979 in Toledo, IL and he survives.

Besides her husband, Steve Stock of Towanda, she is survived by one daughter, Marissa (Christopher) Koeller of Flanagan; one son, Nathan Stock of Towanda; two grandsons and one granddaughter on the way, Henry and Matthew Koeller; one brother; three sisters; and her father-in-law, Les (Joyce) Stock of Cissna Park.

Lori was baptized at Toledo Christian Church and later in life attended the Apostolic Christian Church in Bloomington. She enjoyed traveling, reading books – especially The Bible, watching hummingbirds, dragonflies, stargazing at night, and collecting angels, often making them herself. Lori loved living life, especially her love for her kids and grandkids.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Bloomington and 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

Beverly (Bev) Seibring, 88, of Chebanse passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. She was born November 27, 1932 in Chebanse, the daughter of Lloyd and Lucille (Irps) Burling.

Beverly married Lawrence R. Seibring on February 13, 1954 at the United Church of Christ in Chebanse. Bev was the proud mother of four sons, Ron (Jan) Seibring of St. Cloud, MN, Doug (Cindy) Seibring of Chebanse, Steve (Sue) Seibring of Normal and Scott (Stacy) Seibring of Towanda. Other family includes one sister Marilyn “Pat” (Gerald) Hubert of Martinton, one brother Lloyd “Butch” D. (Bobbie) Burling of St. Anne, thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Bev was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Lucille and sister in law Bobbie.

Bev was a member of the United Church of Christ in Chebanse where she was choir director for nearly 70 years and pianist for over 20 years serving in both roles until her passing. Bev and her mother combined for over 80 years as organist/pianist at the church. Bev also served many years as the UCC Youth Group director. She was an active member of the Chebanse community serving on numerous civic organizations. Most recently she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #408, volunteered at Miller Health Care Center, the Clifton Food Pantry and many others. Bev will be fondly remembered by hundreds of students and staff as she served as secretary at Chebanse Grade School for 20 years. Twenty to thirty years after she retired she would be approached by former students who would share kind feelings toward her.

Bev thoroughly enjoyed following her children’s, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren’s activities. She will be remembered for her love of music and friendship but she had no greater passion than her love of family. The only love that was greater than her love of her family was their love of her.

Visitation will be from 4:00pm - 8:00pm on Friday, September 17, 2021 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton.

Larry Edward Eheart, 74, of Gilman passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington. He was born January 28, 1947 in Streator, the son of Franklin “Jack” and LaVerne (Currie) Eheart and they preceded him in death in addition to one sister, Julene Eheart. He married Debra L. Godwin on June 15, 1968 in Happy Valley Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada and she preceded him in death on June 21, 2006.

He is survived by one daughter, Angelique (Steven) Kemarly of Gilman; two sons, Franklin (Tammy) Eheart of Conway, SC and Andrew (Jennifer) Eheart of Watseka; one sister, Janice (David) Schoon of Danforth; nine grandchildren, Jacob Eheart, Alley Eheart, Megan Kemarly, Anna Eheart, Hannah Eheart, Damon Eheart, Lilian Eheart, Emily Eheart and Stephanie Whipple; one great-granddaughter, Ashlynn Whipple; and two nieces, Milisa (Chris) Benjamin of Essex and Michelle (Todd) Hull of Danforth.

Larry served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. He was an EMT for the Gilman Ambulance for many years, worked at Uarco for 30 years, was a part time mechanic at Kuipers Dealership in Gilman, and in his retirement, worked part time for Gilman Fertilizer. He graduated from Gilman High School. Larry enjoyed farming, working on vehicles and having coffee at K&H.

A graveside service will be at 1:00 pm on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at the Gilman Cemetery. Rev. Bob Blumberg will officiate. Military graveside rites will be by the Gilman American Legion Post #499.

Margaret Nell Bluhm, 85, of Sibley, formerly of Watseka, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Margaret was born on December 6, 1935 in Sharon, Tennessee, the daughter of Cecil and Sylvia (Yarber) Robertson and they preceded her in death. She married Edward Bluhm in Chicago on November 4, 1961 and he preceded her in death on March 11, 2005. Margaret was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Robertson and Richard Robertson; two sons, Michael Anderson and James Anderson.

Margaret is survived by one son, Thomas Yarber of Darien; two daughters, Karen (Jerry) Bennett of Watseka and Debbie Bluhm of Crestwood; two brothers, James (Marlene) Robertson and Danny Robertson; one sister, Pat (Tom) Wills; six grandchildren, Carie (Andrew) Hertter, Danielle Bergeron, Cristen (Jacob) Kinnaird, Andrew (Stephanie) Anderson, Kyle Anderson, and Lauren Anderson; three great-grandchildren, Payton and Joanna Kinnaird and Hazel Anderson.

Margaret attended Trinity Church and the First Baptist Church both in Watseka. She enjoyed doing crafts and crocheting and especially loved being a parent and a grandparent.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka with Joe Hughes officiating. The visitation will be two hours prior from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Debora Siebring, 67, of Watseka passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka. She was born February 15, 1954 in Kankakee, the daughter of Lester Ray and Betty June (Miller) Walker. She married Todd Siebring on July 13, 1985 at Haun Park and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her father and one brother, Bill Walker.

She is survived by two daughters, Michelle (Todd) Harris of Watseka and Jodi Siebring of Indiana; six grandchildren, Natalie Harris, Magan Harris, Dylan Harris, Kaitlyn Mattocks, Kimberly Mattocks and Dale Mattocks; one great-granddaughter that is expected soon, Addison Harris; her mother, Betty June Walker of Spencer, WV; two sisters, Melinda Walker of Spencer, WV and Lisa (Greg) Hamrick of Parkersburg, WV; and many nieces and nephews.

Debora enjoyed reading, traveling, singing, playing the piano, and spending time with her family. She loved taking care of people as a nurse. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor and purple hair.

Dolores E. Wingren, 95, of Crescent City and formerly of Streamwood passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth.

Dolores was born July 27, 1926 in Chicago, the daughter of James and Elma (Pauly) Sharp and they preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one brother, James Sharp; three sons, Thomas J. Wingren, Richard J. Wingren, and Jerome G. Wingren.

Dolores is survived by one son, Daniel (Debra) Wingren of Hampshire; one daughter, Lynn (George) Soucek of Streamwood; daughter-in-law, Susan Wingren of Crescent City; ten grandchildren; twelve great- grandchildren; and twelve great-great-grandchildren.

Dolores was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Iroquois County and a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Streamwood where she was very active. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends as well as the staff at Prairieview Lutheran Home.

Frances M. Cotter, 80, of Piper City passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Piper City Rehab and Living Center.

Frances was born on August 3, 1941 in rural Piper City, the daughter of John and Elsie (Gagnon) Peters and they preceded her in death. She married Kenneth I. Cotter on December 19, 1959 in Danforth and he preceded her in death on November 22, 2009. She was also preceded in death by one son, James Cotter; one brother, Glen; and one nephew.

She is survived by one son, Robert (Rhonda) Cotter of Piper City; one daughter-in-law, Susan Cotter of St. Joseph; five grandchildren, Elena Kae, Austin James, Caleb Addison, Kenny Mack, and John Robert; one sister-in-law, Barbara Peters of Streator; one niece; and three nephews.

Frances was a homemaker and retired from Greenbriar Healthcare. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Piper City as well as past member of American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed having coffee with her friends.

Memorials may be made to Piper City Fire Department.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Brenton Cemetery in Piper City with Pastor Wade Ditty officiating.
