Corliss Lee Norton of Clifton passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 27th, surrounded by his family and loving wife of 73 years, Irene. His 100th birthday would have been December 14th.

He was born in Kewanee Illinois and raised on a farm by his parents Raymond and Marie. He graduated from Mineral High School in 1938, one of only four in his class. He completed his undergraduate work at Illinois State University and received his Master’s degree from the University of Illinois. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force at the start of World War II. He was a tail gunner, and completed 39 missions. He was one of 4 survivors of a ditching over the Adriatic Sea on July 15, 1944, earning a Purple Heart and Bronze Medal. When he returned home, he concluded his college studies and met the love of his life, Irene Lehner, in Bloomington. They married in Sheldon, IL on June 5, 1948. They moved to Buckley, where he began his career of teaching history and coaching basketball (110-17).

He moved to Clifton Central in 1951 where he was a teacher, coach, guidance counselor, junior high principal, and eventually Superintendent of Schools.

As a high school basketball coach, he won 301 games in 15 years. He was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2012.

After retirement, he and Irene split their time between homes in Scottsdale, Arizona and Clifton for over 30 years.

Corliss was an active member for many years of the Clifton Lions Club and the Ashkum Methodist Church. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, and he and Irene were honored for their military service at Wrigley Field in August, 2019, He had a mind as sharp as a tack, even at the age of 99. He could recite the stats of most college and pro players, and was an avid sports fan. He was a modest man with a quick wit. He took a quiet pride in his family and enjoyed staying in touch with neighbors, friends, colleagues, and even his original B24 crew. His Christmas letters usually contained a zinger or two, and were highly anticipated.

He is survived by his lovely wife Irene, daughter Rita (Stephen) Fontinha, son Herb (Barbara), daughter Toni (Jack) Schimanski, son Ted (Pam), and daughter Kim (Ken) Hasanoff. As well as six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and sister, Vernalee McNamara. Preceding him in death were his parents and son Tom.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Ashkum United Methodist Church in Ashkum. Rev. Barb Schlatter will officiate. Burial will follow in Clifton Cemetery in Clifton. Military rites will be provided by Central VFW Post #2131.

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton.

Raymond R. Guttendorf, 74, of Gilman, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville. He was born on May 27, 1947 in Kankakee, the son of Raymond W. and Ada (Zachgo) Guttendorf and they preceded him in death. Raymond married Cindy Hamilton on March 2, 1991 in Kankakee.

Surviving are his wife, Cindy Guttendorf of Gilman; one daughter, Dana (Robert) Freyman of Bourbonnais; one son, Raymond (Sarah) Guttendorf of Fishers, Indiana; one brother, Gordon (Deb) Guttendorf of Graham, North Carolina; and two grandchildren, Gillian and Kaleb Freyman.

Mr. Guttendorf was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gilman. Raymond was a veteran of the United States Marines. He was a 36-year employee of AT&T. He loved researching family genealogy and enjoyed studying the Civil War.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gilman with Rev. Pete Hinrich officiating. Visitation will also be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church from 9:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. funeral service. Military rites by Gilman American Legion Post 499.

Jon G Rogers, 28 of Crescent City passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 in his home in Watseka. Born August 8, 1993 in Harvey Illinois, the son of the Jon G Rogers Sr and Mary (Mahnke) Rogers. Jon G Rogers Sr preceded his death October 19, 2020.

He is survived by his mother Mary Rogers and John Olsen of Crescent City, one son and five siblings. His son Jon G Rogers III of Missouri, Justin and Jessica Rogers of Watseka, Elizabeth Bristle and Ryan Maxfield of Crescent City, Taylor Rogers of Crescent City, Ava Weege of Batavia and David Rogers.

Jon loved to spend time with family, especially his son, nieces and nephews. He had a larger than life personality; lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed playing guitar, singing and writing music. Jon never looked down on others, always treated everybody as his equal no matter what their situation in life was. Jon was loved and cherished by everyone that knew him.

With a heart of gold and beautiful soul, the memory of Jon will forever be kept in the heart of his family and friends.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 Tuesday November 30, 2021 at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka.

Harold L. “Corky” Ritter, 91, of Watseka passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born on November 5, 1930 in Watseka, the son of Harold A. and Ester (Haines) Ritter. He married Barbara E. Elson in Kentland, IN on November 18, 1950 and she preceded him in passing on November 7, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenny Ritter.

He is survived by one daughter, Judy Cartelli of Watseka; three grandchildren, Tammy (Dustin) Honn of Herscher, Justin Boatman (Liz Davenport) of Watseka and Michael Cartelli (Kim Causley) of Watseka; six grandchildren, Bailey Honn, Kylie Honn, Amelia Cartelli, Jaxon Causley, Jase Neiman, and Mollie Neiman; and two brothers, Lowell Ritter of Arkansas and Tommy (Jan) Ritter of California.

Mr. Ritter was a member of operating engineers Local 150 for over forty years where he operated heavy machinery. He drove stock cars for many years, was a Golden Gloves boxer, and enjoyed trapping, fishing, and hunting. Harold loved to scuba dive, pan for gold, and play cards, especially poker.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka.

Lucy Green, 77, of Watseka passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born on October 24, 1944 in Watseka, the daughter of William and Helen (Williams) Briscoe. Lucy married Robert E. Green on August 10, 1979 in Watseka and he preceded her in death on March 20, 2021.

Lucy is survived by her son, Robert Edward (Cindy) Green of Bloomington; granddaughters, Ashley (Andrew) Deem of Mahomet, and Chelsi Green of Bloomington, Jennifer Cole of Bloomington; grandson, Zachary Green of Los Angeles, California; great grandchildren, Grace and Ryder Deem of Mahomet and Anthony Orr of Bloomington; and sister, Sue (Wayne) Fox of Milford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Michael Green; one daughter, Kimberly Huckleby; and one grandson, Tanner Huckleby.

Lucy was a member of Milford Christian Church in Milford where she taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the Iroquois Genealogical Society. Lucy worked for the Illiana Spirit for many years, was the Assistant Store Manager at K-Mart in Watseka, and enjoyed crocheting.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 2021 at the Milford Christian Church with Revs. Brent Zastrow, Ryan Mustered, and Gary Milton officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Creek Cemetery in Stockland.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at the Baier Funeral Home in Watseka.

Helen M. Henrichs, 76, of Woodworth passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Accolade Healthcare in Paxton. She was born on November 18, 1945 in Watseka, the daughter of Robert B. and Eleanor (Hilgert) Hewitt. Helen married Orvelle L. Henrichs in Danforth on November 25, 1962. He preceded her in death on February 21, 2017.

Surviving are two daughters, Lisa (Steve) Burdin of Mahomet and Kay (Edgar) Busboom of Thomasboro; two granddaughters, Jenny (Seth) Trail Robbins of Champaign and Kathleen Trail & Carson Fuhr of Champaign; four sisters, Karen Harrison of Gilman, Sheryl (Francis) Schunke of Gilman, Janet (Bruce) Schunke Danforth, and Barbara (Jon) Hubner of Otterbein, IN; two brothers, Arnold (Clara) Hewitt of Bourbonnais and Ralph (Terri) Hewitt of Avon, IN; and many nieces nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orvelle; and her brother, Robert Allen Hewitt.

Mrs. Henrichs was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Woodworth. She enjoyed reading and quilting.

Following a fall in her home and complications in her recovery from hip replacement surgery, Margaret Ann Kanosky of Onarga, Illinois, passed away peacefully in Hospice Care at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, Illinois, on November 23, 2021. She was in the presence of loving family members throughout her hospitalization.

Margaret Ann Scharlau Kanosky was born May 28, 1928 to William and Fannie (Soderberg) Scharlau in Villa Park, Illinois. Her mother died when she was 11 and she lived with her aunts Emma and Martha Scharlau in Chicago until she was high school age and returned to a farm in rural Buckley, Illinois to be with her father. She graduated from Buckley High School then worked for a year in a Chicago office with her aunts. She married Joseph Kanosky on February 8, 1948, in Gilman, Illinois. They lived on the Kanosky family farm in rural Buckley until they moved to Onarga in 1962 where she lived until her passing.

Margaret was a loving and devoted mother to her seven children. After her children were raised, Margaret worked for many years as a school cook at the Onarga High School.

She is survived by her children: Joe (Jennifer) of Freeport, Illinois, Tom (Debbie) of Onarga, John of Onarga, Jeff (Mickey) of Noblesville, Indiana, and Barbara Kanosky Pfingsten (Rick) of Crescent City, Illinois, and daughter-in-law, Karen Bailey of Kankakee. Margaret was the matriarch of a large family with 42 grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren in Arizona, California, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin, as well as many nieces and nephews. She loved her family unconditionally and hosted weekly Sunday breakfasts for many years; no matter how crowded her table was, she always made an extra seat available for anyone who stopped by. In the Onarga area she was known as Grammy Kanosky, not only to her large family, but also to the friends of her children and grandchildren.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, sons David and James, her parents, Brother William, two aunts, several brothers and sisters-in-law, several cousins, as well as many long-time coffee klatch Onarga area pals, some of whom she maintained friendships with since her school years. She also leaves behind her beloved and very spoiled cat Boots who will be lost without her.

Cremation rights were accorded with a “Celebration of Life “ceremony to be held at the Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga on December 1, 2021 with visitation from 9-11 and service from 11-Noon with a private cemetery service after.

Margaret was a strong, humble, caring, and selfless woman who was loved by all of her many family members and will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank the caring and dedicated nursing staff of 5th Floor East of the Riverside Medical Center and the staff of Uplifted Hospice who attended to her in her final days.

Margaret had a life-long love of reading. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret’s name may be made to the Onarga Public Library.

James H. Roush, 98, formerly of Gilman, Decatur, and Bourbonnais passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021 at Georgetown Place in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on December 28, 1922 in Gilman, the son of Homer T. and Rose (Post) Roush and they preceded him in death in addition to one sister, Elizabeth Chase. He married Gladys G. Dehm in Watseka on January 16, 1943 and she preceded him in death on October 26, 2013.

He is survived by one daughter, Sharon (Terry) Lundquist of Fort Wayne, Indiana; one son, James A. (Paula) Roush of Chandler, Arizona; three grandchildren, Terry (Kris) Lundquist of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Tammy (Tim) Winans of Roanoke, Indiana, and Britta (Jeff) Dionne of Granite Falls, Washington; eight great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren.

James was a member of Gilman United Methodist Church and the Gilman American Legion. He was employed at W.D. Orr International Harvester in Gilman and Standard Oil in Gilman. He was an estimator for McBroom’s Body Shop in Bourbonnais. James also owned and operated Auto Action Body Shop in Bourbonnais. James served during WWII in the United States Army.

Funeral services will be Monday, November 29, 2021 at the Gilman United Methodist Church at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Barb Schlatter officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 2021 also at the Gilman United Methodist Church. Burial will be held immediately following in the Wenger Cemetery in Gilman with graveside military rites by the Gilman American Legion Post 499.

Memorials may be given to Eleos Hospice (4601 Maplecrest Road, Ft. Wayne, IN 46835), Gilman American Legion Post 499, or the Gilman United Methodist Church.

Wilbert H. Gieseler, 95, of Buckley, passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at his home. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 26th at 11:00am at St. John's Lutheran Church in Buckley. Terence “Terry” L. Keller, 68, of Watseka passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at his home. He was born on August 19, 1953 in Kankakee, the son of Roy Paul and Mildred Olive (Reed) Keller.

He married Susan Barber on January 19, 1976 in Kankakee and she survives in Park Ridge. He is also survived by five children, Erika (Jason Smith) Keller of Springfield, TN, Josef Keller of Brook, IN, Kristin (Aaron) Kerouac of Bourbonnais, Ahren (Morgan) Keller of Donovan, and Kurt (Amy) Keller of Watseka; sixteen grandchildren; three sisters, Barbara Hayhurst, Sandra Pelletier, and Juanita Lund; and one sister-in-law, Carol Keller.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Leroy, James, and Joseph.

Terry worked at the Momence Post Office as a rural letter carrier for 23 years. Terry served in the United States Marine Corps. He was also a gun shop owner and military collector and reenactor, but his favorite hobby was being Pop-Pop to his grandchildren. Mr. Keller attended St. Anne Baptist Church and is where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 28, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.

Daniel David Cluver, 74, of Watseka passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at his home. He was born on July 26, 1947 in Watseka, the son of Paul and Jeanette (Nielsen) Cluver.

He married Ellen Stole in Lansing, Illinois on June 15, 1974. She preceded him in death on August 3, 2021. Dan was also preceded in death by his parents and one infant daughter.

Dan is survived by one daughter, Jan (Justin) Lavicka of Milford; one son, David (Amber) Cluver of St. Joseph; seven grandchildren, Jahni, Jossalin, Jackson and Jaylin Lavicka and Henry, Elsa, and George Cluver; one brother, Steve (Karen) Cluver of Boulder City, NV; one sister, Paulette (Jim) Harkins of Gilman; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In high school, Dan played football, basketball, baseball, and ran track at WCHS. He was also involved in band, choir, and the yearbook committee. Dan served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Later, he attended Concordia University where he received both his undergraduate and Master’s degrees. Dan was a principal and teacher in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod school system for 38 years. Dan loved watching football, basketball and baseball; particularly the University of Illinois, Chicago Bears, and Chicago White Sox.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. funeral service on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Watseka. Rev. Aaron Uphoff will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka with graveside military rites by Watseka American Legion Post #23 and Iroquois County VFW Post #7450.

Norma L. LaReau, 92, of Ashkum passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Gilman Nursing Home in Gilman. She was born on March 16, 1929 in Chebanse, the daughter of Frederick “Roy” and Alice Elizabeth (Mathy) Jensen. She married Merrill “Moe” S. LaReau in Clifton at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on August 7, 1948 and he preceded her in passing on January 4, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Arnold, Harold, and Maynard; and two sisters in law, Vialeta and Katherine.

Survivors include one daughter, Kathie Perzee of Gilman; one son, Michael (Teresa) LaReau of Louisville, KY; three grandchildren, Jeremy, Brandon, and Amanda LaReau; one sister in law, Ruth Jensen of Ashkum; and two great grandchildren, Lillian Grace LaReau and Landon Lee LaReau.

Norma was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Clifton and previously a member at Assumption BVM Catholic Church in Ashkum. She enjoyed going to casinos, playing cards, going dancing, and loved to attend her grandchildren’s activities and sporting events.

Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am on Monday, November 29, 2021 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Clifton. Fr. Doug Hauber will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service. Burial will take place at a later date at Ashkum Catholic Cemetery in Ashkum.

Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 on Monday, November 29, 2021 at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton.

David Wayne Hiles, 58, of Watseka passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at his home. He was born April 11, 1963 in Watseka, the son of J. Wayne and Jean L. (Schaefer) Hiles and he was preceded in death by his father.

He married Becky Hiles on June 5, 1993 and she survives in Milford. Also surviving are his mother, Jean Hiles of Watseka; two brothers, Scott (Hedda) Hiles of Sheboygan Falls, WI and Dale (Stephanie) Hiles of El Paso, IL; and four nephews, Alex, Benjamin, Nathaniel and Eric.

David was a member of the Milford United Methodist Church, Slow Boys Tractor Club and Iroquois County Historical Society. He was a co-leader of the Crescent City Barn Bangers 4-H Club and was a Cissna Park F.F.A. Alum. David was an Alexander Lumber Yardman in Gilman.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Rev. Kevin Nourie will officiate. Burial will follow at Body Cemetery in Woodland.

Mary M. Vaughn, 83, of Kankakee and formerly of Chebanse passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Citadel Care Center in Kankakee. She was born on February 28, 1938 in Quincy, IL, the daughter of William Dana and Lela Luretta (Hughes) Davis. She married Alfred I. Vaughn in Bradley on October 10, 1962 and he preceded her in death on May 21, 1989.

Surviving are one son, Tim (Lesa) Vaughn of Clifton; one daughter, Tammi (Louis) Vaughn Larsen of Kankakee; one step son, Ken Vaughn of Aroma Park; two grandchildren, Kaeyln Vaughn and Luke Vaughn; six step grandchildren, Michelle Sutherland, Brandon Vaughn, Kendra Vaughn Joyal, Sara Vaughn Reid, Dennis Sikes, and Debbie Sikes; and eleven step great grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one step son, Gary Michael Vaughn.

Mrs. Vaughn taught for thirty-three years at Cissna Park, Chebanse, and Kankakee. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Bourbonnais. Mary enjoyed writing letters, sewing, reading her Bible, and Bible Studies.

Cremation rites have been accorded by Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton.

A memorial visitation will be from 12:00-1:30 on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton. A memorial graveside service will be at 2:00 pm at Evergreen Cemetery in Chebanse.

Steven H. “Steve” Saathoff, 71, of Watseka passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Riverside Healthcare Center in Kankakee. He was born on November 9, 1950 in Watseka, the son of Herman A. and Shirley (Colebank) Saathoff and they preceded him in death.

He is survived by two sisters, Carol (Howard) Haley of Kempton and Cynthia (Glenn) Behrends of Bloomington; two brothers, Richard “Rick” (Tammy) Saathoff of Ashkum and Stanley (Becky) Saathoff of Ashkum; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Steve was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ashkum and Old Boys Tractor Club. He collected Allis-Chalmers mini tractors and Attex 6 Wheelers. He loved attending the Pine Lake Rally in Ohio and made many friends there. Steve always enjoyed providing weekly dinners and drinks on Sunday mornings to his friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton. Rev. Pete Hinrich will officiate. Burial will follow at Ashkum Township Cemetery in Ashkum. Everyone attending is encouraged to wear Allis-Chalmers orange for the service.

Paul K. Geisler, 62, of Gilman passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Arcadia Care of Clifton. He was born on June 14, 1959 in Watseka, the son of Clarence W. and Grace J. (Schuster) Geisler. He married Deborah Cook on December 31, 1988 in Las Vegas, NV.

Surviving are his wife, Debbie Geisler of Gilman; two brothers, Steven Geisler of Gilman and Joe (Barbara) Geisler of Kankakee; one sister, Gayle (Rob) Reitz of Danforth; one brother in law, Ron Brandenburg of Watseka; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews; as well as his best fur friend, Gizzy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Barbara Tofari and Carol Brandenburg; and one brother in law, Dennis Tofari.

Paul enjoyed boating, riding his Harley, trips to the casino, NASCAR, and watching football. He loved his golf cart rides with Gizzy and the occasional Bud Light.

Everette C. Seegmiller, 75, of Watseka passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021 at his home. He was born on October 28, 1946 in Freeport, IL, the son of Everett E. and June Beth (Clester) Seegmiller.

Surviving are one daughter, Michelle (Bruce) Suver of Woodland; two brothers, Gary (Colleen) Seegmiller of Mariana, AZ and Denny (Trisha) Seegmiller of Crescent City; four grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Everette enjoyed camping and fishing. He was a member of Just Us Motorcycle Club.

Ashley Wren (Shortsleeve) Casey, 39, of Joliet, IL passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021. She was born March 5, 1982 and grew up in Donovan, the daughter of Richard and Carol (Hewitt) Shortsleeve.

Surviving are her parents, Richard and Carol Shortsleeve of Donovan, IL (recently relocated to Upland, IN); her children, Orlando Casey of Bradenton, FL, Jadyn Casey of Bradenton, FL, and Sawyer Shortsleeve of Donovan, IL (recently relocated to Upland, IN); her siblings, Richard (Jamie) Shortsleeve of Upland, IN, Christine (Ralph) Waldo of Carmel, IN, and Carrie (Eric) Little of Batavia, IL.

Ashley graduated from Donovan High School in 2000. Following high school she attended Kankakee Community College and Illinois State University.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and her beloved dog (Zoey).

Marilyn D. Knapp, 85, of Cissna Park passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Fairview Haven Nursing Home in Fairbury. She was born on June 4, 1936 in Cissna Park, a daughter of Clarence and Naomi (Young) Knapp.

Survivors include one sister, Lucille Knapp of Cissna Park; two brothers, Wesley Knapp of Cissna Park and Aaron Knapp of Rankin. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Norman Knapp; and three sisters, Marguerite Beckman, Sylvia Knapp and Arlene Knapp.

Marilyn was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Cissna Park and worked at Read’s auto dealership in accounting for 37 years. Marilyn enjoyed collecting strawberries.

Private funeral services will be held with burial in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Cissna Park.

Armand “Gene” Poskin, 69, of Ashkum passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021 at Faith Place in Danforth.

Gene was born on January 4, 1952 in Watseka, the son of Armand W. and Pearl Elizabeth (Tholen) Poskin and they preceded him in death. He married Janice Rutherford on June 23, 1984 in Ashkum and she survives.

Besides his wife, Janice Poskin, he is survived by one son, Grant Poskin of Ashkum; three daughters, Nicole (Lance) Chrisman of Maryville, Amanda (Jonathan) Poskin-Moreno of St. Louis, MO, and Aimee (Dalton) Shasteen of Mahomet; five grandchildren, Mikaila, Gavin, Jacob, Zoey, and Maeve; two brothers, Tom (Liz Belanger) Poskin of Lexington, KY and Randy (Mona) Poskin of Ashkum; and several nieces and nephews.

Gene was a life-long farmer as well as Rural Mail Carrier for forty-one years. He was a member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church in Ashkum. He loved working in his yard and enjoyed playing and watching sporting activities.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton.

A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Assumption BVM Catholic Church in Ashkum with Fr. Doug Hauber officiating. Burial will follow at Ashkum Catholic Cemetery.

Terrie L. Rohlfs, 72 of Watseka passed away on Friday November 5, 2021 at her home. She was born on April 27, 1949 in Flint, MI the daughter of Orvil and Lillian Melvin Ferris. Terrie married Roger D. Rohlfs in Flint, MI on August 17, 1968 and he preceded her in death on January 13, 2006.

Survivors include three sons- Tad (Yamei) Rohlfs of Watseka, Todd Rohlfs of Watseka, and Tim Rohlfs of Clare, MI; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.

Terrie was a member of Living Hope Church in Watseka and enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She was a nurse’s aide at St. Mary’s Hospital for many years. Terrie was a loving, kind, compassionate caretaker to all with a passion for Christ.

Visitation will be on Friday November 12, 2021 from 2-6 pm at the Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Living Hope Church in Watseka.

Floy Anne Callahan, 76, of Watseka passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka.

Anne was born on April 29, 1945 in Watseka, the daughter of Charles and Hazel (Laird) Callahan and they preceded her in death along with one brother, Bob and two sisters, Dorothy and Margaret.

She is survived by one daughter, Melisa Edwards of Oregon; one sister, Wanda Fisher of Watseka; and loving nieces and nephews, Joy Lee, Cheryl Ann, Mark, Karla Jean, Janet, and Jill.

Anne was a member of First Christian Church in Watseka. She enjoyed writing poems.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Friday, November 12, 2021 at First Christian Church in Watseka. Pastor Roy Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Stockland.

Albert “Al” G. Kellerhals, Jr., 74, of Milford passed away on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Generations of Elmwood Park in Elmwood Park. He was born on December 14, 1946 in Danville the son of Albert “Abe” G. and Mary E. (Young) Kellerhals Sr. He married Linda Sterrenberg on October 20, 1973 in Cullom.

Al is survived by his wife, Linda Kellerhals of Milford; one son, David (Kristen) Kellerhals of Urbana; one daughter, Christina (Mark) Wiseman of Ypsilanti, Michigan; three sisters, Nancy (Tom) Bruch of Oglesby, Trisha (Vern) Weber of Hermiston, Oregon, and Elizabeth St. John of Moyock, North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Barbara Hack of Champaign; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Andrew Kellerhals.

Al was a member and past elder of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Milford. Al was a trained Lutheran Church Charities K-9 Comfort Dog Handler for Team Mahlah. He was a member of the Watseka American Legion Post 23 and served in their color guard. He was a former member of the Milford Lion’s Club. He previously dedicated twenty-three years on the school board at Milford High School. He worked at Silgan Corporation a.k.a. “Tin Can” in Hoopeston for forty-five years retiring in 2015. Al was a proud veteran after serving in the United States Air Force from 1966- 1970.

Visitation will be held on November 11, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m at the Knapp Funeral Home in Milford. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Milford with Rev. Doug Minton officiating. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Milford with graveside military rites by the Watseka American Legion Post 23.

James A. Sterrenberg, 81, of Martinton passed away on Monday, November 1, 2021 at his home. He was born on February 8, 1940 in Watseka, the son of George and Mabel (Tatro) Sterrenberg. He married Judith K. Flowers in South Beloit, IL on October 4, 1968 and she preceded him in passing on February 20, 2004.

Surviving are one son, Trent (Erika) Sterrenberg of Watseka; daughter in law, Bonnie Sterrenberg of Milford; two grandchildren, Stephanie Sterrenberg and Rilynn Sterrenberg; one sister, Vicki Mowrey of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; one brother, Joe (Theresa) Sterrenberg of Martinton; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife Judith, Jim was preceded in death by one brother, George “Bud” Sterrenberg and one son, Vance Sterrenberg.

There was nothing that Jim enjoyed more than following the markets and watching his granddaughters grow.

A celebration of life will be from 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Martinton Church of Christ in Martinton.

Carol Ann Spielman (nee Grueneich) of Gilman, formerly of Chicago and Lodi, California, passed away on November 2, 2021. She was born on November 3, 1937. Carol was married to James R. Spielman and they had recently celebrated 65 years of marriage and he survives. Carol is also survived by her children, Jack (Rebecca), Charles (Kathleen) and Cindy, her grandchildren Izu, Gabriella, Grace, Jordan, James, Makayla and Jacqueline; her great-grandchildren Hayden, Leopold and Oliver; and her siblings-in-law Charles, Richard (Lynn), Thomas (Judy) and Margaret (Daniel). Carol was preceded in death by her parents Nathaniel and Esther Grueneich and her siblings, Nathaniel, Nohna and Lois.

Carol enjoyed working on the computer to research and write three books on family history, compile yearly photos on CD videos for family members, and create and play puzzles. Carol made holidays memorable with her delicious home baked cookies and breads, and family reunions tasty with her homemade apple slices. Her cookies helped her win the heart of the love of her life “Jimmy”. Carol loved knick-knack and antique stores, like The Gathering, and shopping for her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Carol loved all the times she and Jim threw “picnics” on the farm, and family and friends came from all over to spend the day playing volleyball and baseball, eating a pot luck meal from food everyone brought, and sharing a great time together. With that in mind, and due to COVID, a memorial service will be held on the farm at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite charity in Carol’s memory would be welcomed.

Arlyn W. Rabideau, 85, of Clifton passed away peacefully at his home on October 29, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Kankakee on June 11, 1936 to Alvin and Evelyn (Kurtenbach) Rabideau. He married Jackie Lamie on January 10, 1959 and together raised their three children in Bonfield and then later in Clifton.

Arlyn’s life was spent as a caring husband, father, grandfather, cattleman and educator.

He studied agriculture and animal science at the University of Illinois, leading to a lifelong love of cattle breeding. Arlyn was always active, often taking a leadership role, as a member of the Illinois Hereford Association.

As an educator, he was a teacher, then principal at St. Pat’s Grade School over the course of 14 years. With a Master’s degree from Olivet Nazarene University, and later his Doctorate degree from the University of Illinois in 1993. He served as principal at Clifton Central High School for 22 years. It was important to him to build relationships with his students and teachers and always being ever present at school events, making sure teachers and students knew he cared.

Arlyn was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in L’Erable for over 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Rabideau of 63 years and their children, Arlynda (Morgan) Ruch of Dallas, TX, Rod Rabideau of Denver, CO and Craig (Anne) Rabideau of Bourbonnais. He loved his six grandchildren, Abbie (Chris) Perry, Brittany (Matt) Ferguson, Brook Bailey, Preston Bailey, Alyssa (Jesus) Bailey and Marek Rabideau along with his five great-grandchildren, Landon & Laikyn Perry, Eleanor & Jacqueline Ferguson and Eden Llanas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin & Evelyn Rabideau.

A visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 5, 2021 at the Knapp Funeral Home (415 N. Main St., Clifton, IL 60927). A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in L’Erable. Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in L’Erable.

Cynthia “Cyndi” Marie (McMillan) Smith, 54, of Melvin passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, IL surrounded by family and friends. She was born on April 7, 1967 in Fairbury, the daughter of James R. and Brenda (Gerdes) McMillan.

Surviving are her companion and soulmate, Wesley Young of Melvin; father, JR McMillan of Onarga; brother, Jeff (Lisa) McMillan of Gilman; best friend, Lenora Weaver of Gibson City; two nephews, Jack and Sam; two sons, Tyler and Trevor; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother and her grandparents.

She was the owner and operator of Hair Bears in Gibson City for over ten years.

Cyndi loved dolphins, lake life with Wesley and friends, listening to GCMS football and all things purple. She especially loved her beloved Yorkie, Baby Girl.

Mary A. Goldsby, 75, of Gilman passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Arcadia Care of Clifton. She was born December 10, 1945 in Anna, IL, the daughter of Robert and Blanche Ferrell. She married Charles D. Goldsby in Gilman on December 21, 1963 and he preceded her in passing on August 4, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one son, Charles D. Goldsby Jr.

Surviving are one son, James (Linda) Goldsby of Fairbanks, AK; three grandchildren, Tommy, Mary, and Derek; one sister, Tina Clary of Dongola, IL; and longtime friend, Ruth Tracy of St. Anne.
