Jerrie Mae Craighead, 70, of Milford passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee surrounded by her family. She was born on December 28, 1952 in Auburn, IN, the daughter of John and Margot Holse. She married Joseph B. Craighead in Watseka on July 12, 1990.

Surviving are her husband of thirty-three years, Joe Craighead of Milford; one daughter, Melissa Fancher Osborn of Buckley; four grandchildren, Sheanice (Alex) Fancher of Danville, Michael R. Mann of Milford, Jordan Mann of Milford, and Ina Manning of Danville; two sisters, Karen Silfies of Ashkum and Jody Osmun of Montpelier, OH; one brother, Don (Anita) Holse of Livingston, TX; nieces and nephews, Lyle Silfies Jr, Brent (Carrie) Silfies, Keri Silfies, Tom Craighead, Jimmy Craighead, Carrie (Kyle) Brazel, and Patricia Millard; great nieces and nephews, Jaden Silfies, Jessica Silfies, Destiny Kincade, Aubree Whitley, and Miya Silfies; daughter in law, Melanie Austin; and sister in law, Carol Craighead.

Jerrie was preceded in passing by her son, Jason Paul Fancher; her parents; one brother, Robert “Bobby” Parker; one sister, Sherry Keister; two brothers in laws, Lyle Silfies Sr and Ray Craighead; and one sister in law, Brenda Schroeder.

Mrs. Craighead was a nurse and caregiver for many years. She enjoyed dancing, shopping, and spending time with her family. She loved to collect angel figurines.

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Knapp Funeral Home in Milford.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Knapp Funeral Home in Milford. Rev. Brent Zastrow will officiate. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Milford.

Angela L. Schafer, 47, of Long Grove, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. She was born on September 5, 1975 in Fairbury, the daughter of John R. and Kathy Jo (Hansen) Ark. Angela married Steve Schafer in South Barrington on May 13, 2000 and he survives in Long Grove.

Also surviving are two daughters, Arianna and Katherine Schafer of Long Grove; her father, John R. Ark of Piper City; one brother, John Joseph (Lindsay) Ark and their children, Malachi, Suzie, and Hadley Ark all of LaHogue; and paternal grandparents, J. Richard (Carol L.) Ark of Piper City.

She was preceded in death by her mother and her maternal grandparents, Joseph and Mary Hansen.

Angela was a district manager for Bath and Body Works.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at the Life Church in Gilman with Pastor Jim Harkins and Pastor Wally Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the Brenton Twp. Cemetery in Piper City. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at the Knapp-Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman and also one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Ethel E. Simoneau, 92, of Watseka passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Citadel Care Center of Kankakee. She was born on October 2, 1930 in Milks Grove Twp., the daughter of George and Josephine (Ebert) Hartman. She married Junior J. Simoneau in Watseka in 1980 and he preceded her in passing in 2014.

Surviving are two sons, Patrick (Cheri) Lawless of Jensen Beach, FL and Michael Seibring of New Port Richey, FL; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; two step daughters, Sandra and Kathy; and four step sons, Phillip, Marvin, Donnie, and David.

In addition to her husband, Junior, she was preceded in passing by her parents; four brothers; seven sisters; one son, Mark Seibring; and one daughter, Donna Northern.

Mrs. Simoneau attended the Catholic Church. She loved flowers, visiting with people, and watching sports and game shows on tv.

Cremation rites are being handled by Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in L’Erable.

Wanda R. Lee, 98, of Gilman passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka. She was born January 30, 1924 in Melvin, the daughter of August and Emma (Muhlenpfort) Tornowski. They preceded her in death along with two brothers, Henry Tornowski and Sonny Tornowski; and four sisters, Geraldine Shambrook, Pauline Boma, Aldene Sans, and Kathleen Heimer.

Wanda married James Paul Lee and from that union four children were born and they survive, Marlin (Linda) Lee of Gilman, Sheila (Gary) Johnson of Gilman, Rita (Warren) Hayden of Flemingburg, Kentucky, and Cynthia (Greg) Salmon of Onarga; one brother, Wayne (Wanda) Tornowski of Roberts; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are special friends, Anita Honn, Wendy Schoolman, Joyce Lyons, and Jimmy Schrieber.

Wanda was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Roberts. She attended Roberts High School.

James D. Bonham, 94, of Watseka passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023 at Iroquois Resident Home in Watseka.

James was born on November 1, 1928 in Franklin, TN, the son of Monroe and Maggie (Holemau) Bonham and they preceded him in death. He married Betty J. Hines on October 31, 1982 in Milford and she preceded him in death on October 25, 2007. He was also preceded in death by one step-son, Bill.

He is survived by one son, Jerry Bonham; one step-daughter, Connie (Phil) Van Hoveln; two step-sons, Charles Irwin and Roy Irwin; and one step-daughter-in-law, Denise Hanes; eight grandchildren, Joe, Jessica, Patrick, Calvin, Nick, Michele, Abbie, and Shannon; and numerous great-grandchildren.

James served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed gardening and listening to bluegrass music.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Stockland with graveside military rites by Watseka American Legion Post #23 and Iroquois County VFW Post #7450.

Terron “Terry” Demond Burger, 76, of Watseka passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka.

Terry was born on June 8, 1946 in Watseka, the son of Cromer Burger and Vie Decker Broquard and they preceded him in death.

He is survived by his fiancé, Donna Orcutt of Watseka; one daughter, Angie (Tim) Weir of Mackinaw, IL; one son, Travis (Kristin) Burger of Watseka; two step-daughters, Karli Orcutt Manahan (Nick) of Buckley and Erika Orcutt of Watseka; one sister, Suzie (Ken) Baragree of Watseka; one brother Tom (Robin) Burger of Lafayette, IN; four grandchildren, Seth (Bayleigh) Leverenze of Washington, IL, Drew (Erin) Leverenze of Murphysboro, TN, Izzy Weir of Mackinaw, and Ellie Weir of Mackinaw; four step-grandchildren, Madi Ussery, Kale Ussery, Lilly Orcutt, and Gavin Shadowen all of Watseka; one great-granddaughter, Alayna Leverenze of Murphysboro, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

Terry served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Watseka Elks Lodge #1791 as well as First Presbyterian Church in Watseka. He enjoyed driving a truck, tinkering on the farm, and a good cold beer. Terry loved his grandkids and enjoyed watching them play sports.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial visitation will be from 3:00 until the 6:00 p.m. memorial service on Friday, January 27, 2023 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Joe Hughes will officiate.

Charles R. “Bob” Crawford, 88, of Milford passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023 peacefully at his home surrounded by family.

Bob was born on July 28, 1934 in Watseka, the son of Ira Maxwell and Helen (Slife) Crawford. He married Linda Shoufler on November 7, 1987 in Milford and she survives.

Besides his wife, Linda Crawford of Milford, he is survived by one daughter, Diana (Dave) Wright of Milford; two sons, Jeff (Nancy) Crawford of Milford and Todd (Susan) Crawford of Milford; one step-son, Bopper (Stacey) Gillette of Stockland; one step-daughter, Donna (Randy) Hiltz of Milford; eight grandchildren, T.J Crawford (Jennifer) and Jade Crawford (Travis), Charlton Maxwell Crawford, Clover Dawn Crawford, Clarity Elaine Crawford and their mother, Angel Crawford, Jamie (Darren) Bakken and Jennifer Mowrey, and Jesse (Ryan) Covarrubias; five great-grandchildren, Ryli and Chloe Hoaks, Madelyn and Abigail Crawford, and Cecelia Bakken; and his dog, Minder.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marilyn Verkler and Barbara Schmidt; one son, Charles Crawford; and his dog, Mindie.

Bob was a lifetime farmer. He was a member of Milford Lions Club, Slow Boys Tractor Club, FFA Alumni, and served on the Milford School Board.

Suzie McConnell, 60, of Piper City passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023 at OSF Transitional Care Hospital in Peoria. She was born on August 28, 1962 in Watseka, a daughter of William and Nancy (Giroux) McConnell and they preceded her death, along with one brother and one sister.

She is survived by the love of her life, Clay Gerhart of Piper City; one son, Jordan Wilson-Holliman (Jonathon) of Champaign; one daughter, Megan Biskie (Tyler Gilmore) of Piper City; one sister, Amy Watkins of Sheldon; and one granddaughter, Braylee Biskie of Piper City.

Suzie was passionate about spending time with her granddaughter and dog, Gizmo. She enjoyed camping and dirt track racing with friends. Suzie had a big heart and enjoyed giving to others in any way she could. She was employed by Incobrasa in Gilman.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the Knapp-Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman. Rev. Pete Hinrich will officiate and burial will follow in the Wenger Cemetery in Gilman.

Randal D. Wade, 64, of Westville passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville. He was born on August 31, 1958 in Watseka, the son of Harold D. and Gertrude E. (Hubner) Wade.

Surviving are two sisters, Linda (David) Jorgenson of Milford and Lisa (Walter) Lotz of Champaign; one brother, Robert (Leah) Wade of Milford; four nieces and nephews, Briana (Jason) Jorgenson Forman, Morgan (Cole) Lotz Richter, Devin Jorgenson, and Evan Lotz; two great nieces, Ines Forman and Ivy Richter; and he is also survived by Dawn Campbell, his ex-wife and devoted friend, as well as his feline companion, Toni.

He was preceded in passing by his parents and one nephew, Tyler Wade Jorgenson.

Randy attended Milford Public Schools and graduated in 1977. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Randy followed in his father’s footsteps and spent the majority of his career as a tool and die maker, working his way up to engineer, and eventually retiring from Danville Metal Stamping. Mr. Wade loved watching old movies, collected model airplanes and trains, and was an avid fisherman when his health allowed. He was a lifelong LA Rams fan and greatly enjoyed their latest Super Bowl title. Mr. Wade was able to enhance the lives of others through his tissue and organ donation.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Milford. Visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial service from 10:00-11:00 am. Rev. Doug Minton will officiate. Burial will follow at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Stockland.

James “Ronnie” McMillan, 85, of Onarga passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. He was born January 24, 1937 in Watseka, the son of Howard and Gladys (Baker) McMillan and they preceded him in death in addition to one brother, Howard McMillan Jr. and one daughter, Cynthia Smith.

He is survived by one son, Jeff (Lisa) McMillan of Gilman; four grandsons, Jack & Sam McMillan of Gilman, Tyler (Kara) Smith of Gibson City and Trevor (Erin Bittner) Smith of Sibley; four great-grandsons, Kade & Colton Smith of Gibson City and Emmett & Tate Smith of Sibley; special nephew, Greg (Renee) McMillan of Gilman, niece, Donna (Randy) Wendel of Piper City; also surviving are a nephew, several nieces, cousins, and many special friends.

Ronnie farmed in the LaHogue area and was a previous owner of a fertilizer company and a trucking company. He served in the U.S. Army. Ronnie enjoyed going to auctions, having coffee with his friends, and watching his grandkids play sports, especially basketball. He always found joy in helping others.

Glenda J. Henrichs, 75, of Wellington passed away on Monday, January 9, 2022 at her home in Wellington. She was born on February 27, 1947 in Watseka, the daughter of Merrel and Betty (Pentecost) Bayer. She married Kenneth Henrichs in Woodland on September 14, 2002.

Surviving are her husband, Ken Henrichs of Wellington; three children, Teresa (Jeff) Henry of Lafayette, IN, one son, Jimmie (Sarah) Boiles of Puyallup, WA, and Holly (Adam) Richardson of Kansas; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one sister, Marilyn (Phil) Lahr of Bloomington, IL.

She was preceded in passing by her parents; one brother, Richard Brown; and one sister, Deb Martell.
Mrs. Henrichs was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Woodworth. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, playing computer games, and playing cards. Most of all she loved being Nana to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ernest H. Kemnetz, 90, of Chebanse passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Arcadia Care in Clifton. He was born June 25, 1932 in Fairbury, the son of Ernest and Nellie (Hornical) Kemnetz and they preceded him in death in addition to one brother, Howard Kemnetz; one daughter, Heidi Kemnetz; and one great-granddaughter, Elle Henrichs.

He married Jeanne C. Rice on November 26, 1955 in Normal and she survives. Also surviving are one son, Mike (Donna) Kemnetz; one daughter, Sue (Rod) Wolfe; eight grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Mr. Kemnetz served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Sharon R. Gash, 56, of Ashkum passed away on January 4, 2023 in Aurora. She was born March 5, 1966 in Ft. Sumter, the daughter of Donald and Suzanne (Rice) Childs.

She is survived by her parents, Don and Sue Childs of St. Anne; one daughter, Stacey Blank (Kenny Hertz) of Reddick; one son, Lukes (Karlie) Gash of Chebanse; four grandchildren, Reegan, Raelynn and Rexton Blank and Chase Hertz; one sister, Donna (Tim) Rattin of Beaverville; one brother, Paul (Jennifer) Childs of Flanagan; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Sharon was a server at various establishments throughout the years. She enjoyed her grandchildren, going to the Kankakee Speedway, and sports.

Larry E. Knilands, 81, of Piper City and formerly of Roberts and Thawville, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Gibson City Hospital.

Larry was born on February 23, 1941 in Fairbury, the son of John Charles and Ina (Johnson) Knilands. He married Shirley Yana on March 30, 1963 in Thawville and she survives.

Besides his wife, Shirley Knilands of Piper City, he is survived by three children, Helen (Chris) Ciani, Robert E. Knilands, and Jennifer (Scott) Meiss; and two grandchildren, Lydia and Jonathan Ciani.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and one sister.

Larry graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University and University of Illinois. His degrees in English and Journalism led him to a career journey that included teaching and newspaper reporting, photography, and editing. A favorite highlight included his annual coverage of the Indianapolis 500.

His interests and hobbies kept him always curious and talkative. He enthusiastically shared knowledge of history and trivia, particularly classic movies and music.

Larry served on the Ford County Republican Central Committee from 1978–1988 as well as Ford Central School Board from 1984-1992. He was a member of Lions Club and Masonic Lodge.

Cremation rites have been accorded by Knapp-Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Ridgeland Township Cemetery in Thawville.

Ardena M. Breymeyer, 95, of Cissna Park, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born on August 10, 1927 in Ash Grove Twp., a daughter of John F. and Erna (Schroeder) Salmon. Ardena married Homer A. Breymeyer on June 30, 1946 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Woodworth and he preceded her in death on October 2, 2017.

Homer and Ardena had a special and loving relationship for over 71 years. Their relationship began on a summer’s day at the Annual St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Picnic. They were sweethearts while Homer fought in Europe during WWII and upon his return to the states, they planned their marriage. They loved each other deeply during their time together. Homer and Ardena worked hard, laughed freely, and taught their children to love and trust in God, be responsible and created many beautiful memories for the family. Ardena missed the love of her life for the past five years and now they get to continue holding hands in heaven.

Surviving are three daughters, Susan (James “Pete”) Wells of Thawville, Peggy (William) Lah of Goodland, IN, and Jayne (Dean) Henrichs of Cissna Park; three sons, Barry (Diana) Breymeyer of Hampstead, NC, Bryan (Suzanne) Breymeyer of Paxton, Daryl (Jennifer) Breymeyer of Grand Rapids, MI; one sister, Shelby Jean (Michael) Townsend of Farmington, MO; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lois Redeker and Eunice Windhorn; one son-in-law, Rick Houser; and one great-grandson, Derek Houser.

Ardena was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Woodworth. She hand stitched many quilts over the years and lovingly made quilts and blankets for all 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She worked at JCPenney in Watseka in sales and as a bookkeeper for 27 years.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. CST on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Woodworth with Rev. Michael Ruhlig officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Woodworth. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at the church.

L. Dean Anderson, 85, of Martinton, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 1, 2023. Dean was born September 17, 1937 in Watseka, the fifth child of Delbert and Agnes Anderson, Donovan. Surviving is his wife of 65 years, the former Emilie Regnier, whom he married November 23, 1957.

Also surviving are three sons: Ronald (Carma) Anderson, Martinton, Donald (Julie) Anderson, Bourbonnais and Vincent (Cindy) Anderson, Martinton; two daughters: Julia (Alan) Nelson, Colorado, and Jennifer (John-Lee) Hall, Donovan; ten grandchildren: Kyle Anderson, Martinton, Tara (Danny) Bellino, Arizona, Jason Anderson, Springfield, IL, Amy (Michael) Kralik, Carpentersville, Stephen (Mara) Nelson, Colorado, Robbie Nelson, Colorado, Foster Hall, Donovan, Griffin Hall, Donovan, Michele (Alan) Eskelsen, Herscher, and Amy (Bryan) Roberts, Herscher; thirteen great-grandchildren: Dalton and Lily Anderson, Martinton, Mikaylee and Maxsim Bellino, Arizona, Trevor Nelson, Colorado, Kade, Kamden and Kayna Nelson, Abby Eskelsen, Kloe Longtin, Kenny, Jaxson and Mason Roberts, all of Herscher; siblings: Larry (Janice) Anderson, Donovan and Judy Judy, Bourbonnais; in-laws: Suzanne Anderson, California, Joseph (Helen) Swigart, Watseka, Mervyn Pilotte, Indiana, Everal (Doris) Regnier, Indiana and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Marian Waity, Carolyn Swigart and Darlene Pilotte; brother: Roger Anderson; in-laws: Nelson and Gloria Waity, William and Elsie Regnier and Joyce and Robert Boudreau.

Dean proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1958 as an aviation mechanic with the VA 15 Squadron aboard the USS Forrestal aircraft carrier. He sold John Deere equipment for many years and could repair almost anything mechanical. He farmed the same land for nearly 50 years and enjoyed antique tractors and going to farm auctions and tractor pulls. Dean had a wealth of knowledge about machinery and was consulted by many.

The visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2023 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. The Rev. Michael Powell will officiate a funeral service on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Beaverville, with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be provided by Watseka American Legion Post #23 and Iroquois County VFW Post #7450.

Dana R. Clement, 71, of Watseka passed away on January 1, 2023 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka.

Dana was born on July 2, 1951 in Watseka, the son of Wesley and Theresa (Martin) Clement and they preceded him in death along with one brother, Bill; and two brothers-in-law, Joe Elliott and John Gibson.

He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Larry (Sue) Hattabaugh of Milford, Marcia Elliott of Marion, Helen (Barry) Roberts of Frankfort, sister-in-law, Debbie Clement of Indiana, Lee (Pat) Clement of Darien, Lisa (Mark) Harris of Sevierville, TN, Jodi Gibson of Pacific, MO, Don Jensen of Watseka, Donnie (Sandy) Hamende of Watseka, Dale (Liz) Hamende of East Peoria, Janet (James) Bunting of Stockton, William John (Tira) Clement of Indiana, Linda (Amie) Clement of Oxford, IN, J.R. (Terri) Wynn of Danville, and Bruce (ChrissAnn) Chaput of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

Dana devoted his life to his parents, Wes and Theresa.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Watseka.

Charles E. Robert, 83, Watseka and formerly of Flint, MI passed away on December 27, 2022 at his residence.

Charles was born on April 7, 1939 in Flint, MI, the son of Charlie Alexander and Ettamae (Lingo) Robert and they preceded him in death along with one sister, Linda Kay Brown. He married Mary Ann Fly on November 11, 1961 in Flint, MI and she survives.

Besides his wife, Mary Ann Robert of Watseka, he is survived by two daughters, Terri (Skyler) Hasselbring of Watseka and Cindy Kay (Don) Tucker-Kaminski of Costa Rica; one son, Kevin Donald Robert of Wheeling; and seven grandchildren, Jacob, Jed, and Josie Hasselbring, Jeffrey Tucker, and Trinity, Adelynn, and Charlie Robert.

Charles worked at General Motors for thirty-two years. He was in a model airplane club called Balsa Termites as well as very active at Central Church of Nazarene in Flint, MI where he served on the board as well as head usher for over twenty years. More recently, they were members of Church of Nazarene in Ft. Myers, Fl.

A gathering of family and friends will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Cornerstone Church in Woodland, IL with a luncheon to follow.
