Margaret L. Ames, 83, of Royal and formerly of Cissna Park passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024 at Accolade Health Care of Paxton.

 

Margaret was born on January 6, 1941 in Peoria, the daughter of Franklin and Ruth (Greiner) Jones. She married John Egolf on June 12, 1965 in Armstrong and he preceded her in death in June of 1977. She later married Charles “Dale” Ames on July 31, 1981 in Watseka.

 

She is survived by her husband, Charles “Dale” Ames of Royal; four children, Carol (Jay) Young of Champaign, Leslie Lloyd of Greenville, William (Melissa) Egolf of Rankin, and Lucas (Melanie) Egolf of Highlands Ranch, CO; eight grandchildren, Alyssa (Ryan) Price, Jordan Young, Cooper Egolf, Kate Young, Dakota Lloyd, and Ben, Sam, and Molly Egolf; and one great-granddaughter, Wrena Price, on the way.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, John; one sister, Dorothy Noote; and one great-granddaughter, Ryenne Price.

 

Margaret graduated from Illinois State University and then began teaching Home Ec in Armstrong for eight years and later was a Real Estate Insurance Agent. She also was a seamstress throughout her life and served on the Cissna Park School Board for many years. Her hobbies included being an avid reader, word searches, gardening, and cooking for her family.

 

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Cissna Park Cemetery. Pastor Ashley Clifton will officiate.

 

Memorials may be made to the Cissna Park Library.
