Randy Verkler, 64, of Watseka left this world earlier this week to join his mom. Randy was born April 17, 1959 to Dale and Patricia (Cook) Verkler. He was the third born boy in the Verkler clan, having Robert (Lowell, In) and Butch (Watseka, Il) to always rough him up.

 

Randy was a family man, raising his only daughter, Rachel (Eric Gregory) as a single dad. Later in life, Randy was fortunate enough to add Derek Merkel (Rapid City, SD) and Corbin Merkel (Colorado Springs, Co) to his own tribe as his sons.

 

Randy was best known for his “grandpa stories” and was never afraid to tell his tales while sitting around a fire, fishing, or having a whiskey and cigar.

 

When not working, you could find Randy front and center watching his grandkids no matter the event. He was the best “Baseball Grandpa” and rarely missed a game. Randy’s biggest accomplishment in his life was his grandkids, Kurtis Hawkins, Boede Gregory, Veronica Gregory, Natalie Merkel and Jocelynn Merkel.

 

Family, friends and his best friend Mac are what Randy enjoyed the most in the life and this place certainly won’t be the same without him.
