James "Ronnie" McMillan, 85, of Onarga

James “Ronnie” McMillan, 85, of Onarga passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. He was born January 24, 1937 in Watseka, the son of Howard and Gladys (Baker) McMillan and they preceded him in death in addition to one brother, Howard McMillan Jr. and one daughter, Cynthia Smith.

He is survived by one son, Jeff (Lisa) McMillan of Gilman; four grandsons, Jack & Sam McMillan of Gilman, Tyler (Kara) Smith of Gibson City and Trevor (Erin Bittner) Smith of Sibley; four great-grandsons, Kade & Colton Smith of Gibson City and Emmett & Tate Smith of Sibley; special nephew, Greg (Renee) McMillan of Gilman, niece, Donna (Randy) Wendel of Piper City; also surviving are a nephew, several nieces, cousins, and many special friends.

Ronnie farmed in the LaHogue area and was a previous owner of a fertilizer company and a trucking company. He served in the U.S. Army. Ronnie enjoyed going to auctions, having coffee with his friends, and watching his grandkids play sports, especially basketball. He always found joy in helping others.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the Knapp-Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman with the funeral service starting at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Pete Hinrich will officiate. Burial will follow at the Gilman Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Gilman American Legion Post #499.

Memorials may be made to the Roberts Gym, Thawville Fire Dept. or Donor’s Choice.
