Arlis Siebert Kentland, IN

Arlis Siebert passed away at 5:33 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2019 in Kentland, IN. Her five children, David C. Siebert of Saybrook, Terry (Sue) Siebert of Cissna Park, Kevin (Barb) Siebert of Ft. Worth, TX, Becky Siebert of Crown Point, IN and Kristal Young of Kentland, IN were with her. Arlis succumbed to the effects of dementia.

She was born September 25, 1931 in Chebanse, the daughter of Ernest and Gladys (Newcomb) Legan and they preceded her in death in addition to two brothers, Kenny Legan and Everett Legan.

She was the wife of a career military serviceman, David A. Siebert, for over 30 years. She traveled with her children starting in Pensacola, FL where she gave birth to her first child, David C. She then went to Japan, many places in the United States and Europe. David A. was stationed at Ramstien Air Base in West Germany. She moved back to her home in Onarga when David A. retired. There she raised 5 children who all eventually graduated from Onarga High School. She loved baking cakes as both a hobby and small business. She worked for Dr. Langstaff, a Fairbury physician, for many years. She was a founding member of the Onarga Booster Club that raised funds to keep sports alive in Onarga until consolidation.

She spent the last years of her life to the loving care of her daughter, Kristal. It was a long and difficult final trek in life for her but the care she received from Kristal was so appreciated, not only by family members but by mother. For those who are dealing with the ravages of dementia know you have many that can offer their experiences, that you don’t travel the path alone. A special thanks to Cheri Proctor who helped mother and Kristal at the end of her life’s journey.

Arlis leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and cousins, as well as Aunt Jeanie of Springfield and a special niece, Patti Ehrhardt, of Watseka.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga. Rev. Neil Larimore will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Chebanse.

Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga.

Memorials may be made to the Onarga Christian Church, where she was a member.
