On May 10, 2025 about 5:05am, Newton County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a two vehicle crash at the intersection of US 14 and SR 14 (Enos), with one vehicle reported to be on fire. The preliminary investigation by Deputy Byers indicates a 2010 Ford F150 (driven by a 20 year-old Illinois man) was traveling westbound on SR 14. A 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee (driven by a 66 year-old Indiana man) was traveling southbound on US 41.

The driver of the Ford failed to yield the right-of-way , vehicles collided in the southbound lanes of US 41.

The Jeep caught fire due to the impact, the two occupants were able to exit the vehicle without issue. They were transported to an area hospital with what was believed to be minor injuries. The driver of the Ford refused medical treatment at the scene.
