WHAT:                      Two Unit Fatal Traffic Crash

WHERE:                   US Route 45/52 at intersection with County Road 8000S, Kankakee County

WHEN:                      March 16, 2022, at approximately 5:28 a.m.

VEHICLES:              Unit 1 – 2009 Silver Dodge Grand Caravan

                                    Unit 2 – 2006 Green Ford Escape

DRIVERS:                 Unit 1 – Debora R. Singleton, 71-year-old female from St. Anne, IL – Deceased.

                                    Unit 2 – Michael L. Parsons, 36-year-old male from Milford, IL – Transported to a local hospital with injuries.

PRELIMINARY:        Preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling westbound on 8000S Road approaching the intersection with US Route 45/52.  Unit 2 was traveling northbound on US Route 45/52.  Unit 1 failed to stop at the stop sign and was struck by Unit 2 in the intersection.  The driver of Unit 1 was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The driver of Unit 2 was transported via Life Flight helicopter to a regional area hospital with serious injuries. The roadway was closed, and traffic was rerouted for approximately 2 hours due to the crash investigation.  There is no further information available.
