ILLINOIS STATE POLICE INVESTIGATION LEADS TO AN ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION OFFICER'S ARREST FOR AGGRAVATED BATTERY

The Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Internal Investigation (DII) conducted an investigation which led to the arrest of Chris Koziol, a Correctional Officer from the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC), Stateville Correctional Center, located in Crest Hill, IL.  Koziol, a 40-year-old male of Bourbonnais, IL, has been charged with one count of Aggravated Battery.

On Oct. 5, 2020, the ISP DII was notified by IDOC of an allegation of Aggravated Battery against Koziol.

On May 5, 2021, after a thorough investigation by the ISP DII investigators, the Will County State’s Attorney’s office approved one count of Aggravated Battery (Class 3 Felony).  On May 6, 2021, Koziol was taken into custody at the Stateville Correctional Center without incident.  Koziol remains in custody on a $50,000 (10% applies) bond from the Will County Jail. No further information is available for release by the ISP.

“Protecting all citizens of the State of Illinois is an integral part of the Illinois State Police Division of Internal Investigation (DII) Mission,” stated Captain Darryl Bogard.  “DII takes these types of allegations seriously and will continue to thoroughly investigate such allegations.  The thorough investigative work performed by these officers ensures the public remains confident in the ISP handling allegations of misconduct,” he concluded.
