Volunteers from Watseka, IL asked to support "The Flagman's Mission Continues" setting up US Flags for the funeral of Sgt. Jeremy Sherman, United States Army

Help is needed to set up 2,000 plus US 3x5 foot flags on Friday November 27th for the funeral of Sgt. Jeremy Sherman, United States Army, who died on November 12th in a helicopter crash in Egypt.  After the event concludes, help is needed on Tuesday December 1st to take the flags down and reload them into the trailer.

Flags will be set up on Friday, November 27th.  Meet at NOON at the Trinity Church parking lot, 1658 East Walnut Street in Watseka.  Jeff Hastings, President of “The Flagman’s Mission Continues”, will provide instruction on how to use the post drivers and how to unfurl the flags for display.  Please bring work gloves!  Pickup trucks are most welcome and are very useful in taking the flags from the trailer at the church to the setup locations.

The funeral service is on Monday November 30th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.  Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM at Trinity Church with Pastor Ryan Mustered officiating.  Military rites will be provided by the United States Army and Watseka American Legion Post #23.

Flags will be taken down on Tuesday December 1st.  Meet at 9:00 AM at the Trinity Church parking lot.  Jeff will provide instructions on how to prepare the flags to put back in the trailer.  Pickup trucks are again most welcome.  Please bring work gloves!

Normally setup and take down can be completed in a couple of hours.  A very worthwhile and enjoyable use of your volunteer time!  Bring your cameras – the flags provide a lot of photo opportunities that can be shared with the family and others in the community!

Questions, contact Jeff Hastings at 618-409-0323.  For information about “The Flagman’s Mission Continues”, please visit www.theflagmanmission.org
