WHAT: Three Unit Fatal Traffic Crash

Unit 3: Unknown, Truck Tractor Semi Trailer
DRIVER: Unit 1: Nathan Oliver Carroll, 35-year-old male of Channahon, IL (Deceased)
Unit 2: Robert Anthony Segura, 63-year-old male of Newalla, OK
Unit 3: Unknown, Pending investigation
PASSENGER: Unit 2: Tina Segura, 58-year-old female of Norman, OK
PRELIMINARY: A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Units 1, 2 and 3 were traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 at milepost 110.5 (one mile west of IL-47). The driver of Unit 1 was reported to be traveling at a high rate of speed in the left lane. The driver of Unit 2 was also traveling in the left lane and the driver of Unit 3 was traveling in the right lane. The driver Unit 1 attempted to make a lane change into the right lane and struck the rear passenger side of Unit 2 and was ejected. The driver of Unit 3 initially pulled over to the right shoulder and then left the scene. The driver of Unit 1 sustained life-threatening injuries and succumbed to his injuries on scene.
At approximately 3:22 p.m., all eastbound and westbound lanes on Interstate 80 eastbound at milepost 110.5 were closed for the crash investigation; with traffic diverted off the Interstate to Seneca Road. At approximately 4:35 p.m., all westbound lanes were reopened. All lanes reopened at approximately 7:02 p.m. The investigation is open and ongoing. There is no further information at this time.
