ISP TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT

WHAT:                      Single Vehicle vs Pedestrian Fatal Crash

WHERE:                   Illinois Route 16 at 2008 East Road, Shelby County

WHEN:                      June 4, 2020 05:13 a.m.

VEHICLE:                Unit 2- 1992 White Oldsmobile Passenger Car

DRIVER:                   Unit 2- Briar True, 25 year old male from Neoga, Illinois

PEDESTRIAN:         84 year old male from Illinois - (deceased)                          

PRELIMINARY:      A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 2 was traveling westbound on Illinois Route 16 near 2008 East Road in Shelby County.  A pedestrian entered the roadway while retrieving his mail and was struck by Unit 2.  The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of Unit 2 was un-injured. The name of the deceased will be released by the Shelby County Coroner once next of kin notification has been completed.  The crash is still under investigation and no other information is available at this time.
