Iroquois County Sheriff's Police

On Thursday, September 12, 2019, at approximately 3:12 p.m. the Iroquois County Sheriffs Office investigated a fatal two-vehicle accident at the intersection of County Roads 300 E and 2700 N in rural Ashkum, ILA Preliminary reports indicate that a FedEx cargo van being driven by 59 year-old Kayra Medina of Diamond, IL, was traveling westbound on 2700 N when her vehicle was struck in the intersection by an SUV being driven northbound on 300 E by 52 year-old Becki Goldtrap of Clifton, IL. Both vehicles left the roadway and overturned in a beanfield on the northwest corner of the intersection. Riverside EMS, as well as, the Ashkum and Chebanse Fire Depanments responded to the scene, where Ms, Medina vas pronounced dead by Iroquois County Coroner

Bill Cheatum. Ms, Goldtrap, who had to be extricated from her vehicle, was transported from the scene to Riverside Hospital in Kankakee for treatment of her injuries, The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriffs Office and the Iroquois County Coroner's Office,

 

On September I Ith, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Kristy L. Gossett, age 34, of

Stockland. According to police reports, Gossett was charged with domestic battery and resisting arrest.

She was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where she posted the required bond and was released.

On September 1 Ith, 2019, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Michael P. Lovell, age 39, of Sheldon. According to police reports, Lovell was charged with violation of an order of protection. Additionalfy, he was wanted on an outstanding Iroquois County warrant for violation of an order of protection. He was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he remains in lieu of bond.
