Vera I. Knapp, 80, of Cissna Park, Illinois, prior to moving to West Lafayette, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 23 at 1019 Senior Living in Crawfordsville, Indiana. A cherished mother and grandmother, she was born on July 30, 1945 in Rockford, Illinois. On November 29, 1964 she married Roger F. Knapp. They were married for 35 years before his death in May 11, 2000.

 

Vera was an incredibly kind woman who faithfully served the Lord and was always eager to help others. Beyond work on the family farm, Vera was a beautician and served her community preparing meals, teaching Sunday school, and participating in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program. She loved time spent with family, especially play time with her grandkids. She also enjoyed gospel quartet music and trips with her friends.

 

Surviving are two children, Amy (Aaron) Smith of West Lafayette, Indiana, and Sheri (Bruce) Will of Estelline, South Dakota; and three grandchildren, Daniel Smith (Meredith) of Plano, Texas, Thomas Smith of Washington, Illinois, and Elizabeth Will of South Dakota; and a sister, Virginia Keating of Sun City, Arizona.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alpha and Ernestine Eisenman of Cissna Park, a brother, Larry, and a sister, Betsy.

 

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at Christian Bible Church in Cissna Park. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Steve Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Cissna Park Cemetery.
