Lonnie L. King, 78, of Watseka

Lonnie L. King, 78, of Watseka passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka. He was born on October 9, 1947 in Watseka, the son of Elmer King and Shirley Haines.

 

Lonnie is survived by one sister, Crystal (Troy) Matthews of Watseka; two brothers, Donnie (Donna) King of Watseka and Fred (Tracey) Kissack of Kentucky; four sons, Kelly King of Tennessee, Kevin King of Wisconsin, Keith King of Wisconsin, and Kristopher King of Wisconsin and their families.

 

He was preceded in passing by his father, Elmer King; his mother, Shirley Kissack; stepfather; Howard Kissack; and one brother, Ronnie King.

 

Lonnie was well known for his exceptional talent as a pool player. Throughout his life, he competed at national levels, traveling to tournaments and earning numerous accolades for his skill and consistency. Many regarded him as one of the great pool hustlers of his era—respected for his sharp instincts, confidence, and mastery of the game.

 

He was also an avid fisherman who deeply enjoyed the outdoors and frequently traveled to Canada, where he spent countless hours fishing—one of his greatest passions.

 

In addition to his hobbies, he owned and operated his own construction business for most of his life, specializing in siding, replacement windows, and roofing. Through dedication and pride in his work, his business thrived for many years until his retirement.

 

Per his wishes, cremation rites are being handled by Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. A memorial service will be at a later date.

Memorials may go to the ARC of Iroquois County.
