Katelyn Sarah Smith, 37, of Bourbonnais passed away on April 21, 2026 at La Bella of Clifton. She was born on March 13, 1989, a daughter of Keith and Tracey (Weaver) Elderson.

 

Katelyn married Taylor Smith on October 14, 2022 in Bradley and he survives in Bourbonnais. Also surviving are two daughters, Sophie and Charlotte Johnston of Bourbonnais; her parents, Keith and Tracey Elderson of Bourbonnais; one sister, Megan and her husband Jacob Marcukaitis of Bourbonnais along with her nephew and nieces Jonah, Layla, Ruby and Emelia; paternal grandfather, Dennis Elderson of St. Claire Shores, MI; maternal grandmother, Jean Martin of Manteno; maternal grandfather, Keith Martin; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tony and Bonnie Smith of Bradley. Also surviving are many aunts uncles and cousins.

 

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Fran Elderson, Betty Cooper and Bill Cooper.

 

Katelyn was a graduate of Bradley-Bourbonnais High School and was a member of Adventure Christian Church in Bradley. Katelyn is also a graduate of Paul Mitchell in 11/2013.

 

Katelyn will be remembered as a vibrant and outgoing soul who brought warmth and energy wherever she went. She cherished time spent with her family above all else. Her passion for music was ever-present, often serving as a soundtrack to her life, and her appreciation for tattoos reflected her unique spirit and individuality. She had a natural gift for connecting with others. Her kindness, bold personality, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

 

Visitation will be held Monday, April 27, 2026 from 3-7 pm with a Celebration of Life service at 5pm meal to be provided after. Service is located at the Adventure Christian Church, 70 Ken Hayes Drive, Bourbonnais, IL 60914.

 

Memorials may be made to Uplifted Care Hospice.

 

Arrangements are by the Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton.
