Charles Anthony Merhley, 50, of Gilman passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Gilman Healthcare Center in Gilman. He was born on February 10, 1975 in Watseka, a son of Edward A. Merhley and Christina A. Ward. They preceded him in death along with a sister, Teresa Ochoa.

 

He is survived by his three sons, Anthony Merhley of Junction City, Kansas, Joshua Merhley of Watseka, and Devin Merhley of Onarga; four nieces, Maria (Edward Kunkel) Cariaga of Onarga, Melissa (Miguel) Ochoa of Onarga, Lupita (Eloy) Ochoa of Gilman, and Nayelli Ochoa of Gilman; several great nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Guadalupe Ochoa of Onarga.

 

Charles enjoyed fishing and watching football. He was employed by Incobrasa in Gilman.

 

A visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation.
