Margaret M. Earing, 98, of Kempton

Margaret M. Earing, 98, of Kempton passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at her residence. She was born on April 9, 1927 in rural Cabery, a daughter of Walter C. and Elsie (Farley) Wright. Margaret married Eugene W. Earing on June 20, 1948 in Kempton and he preceded her in death on May 17, 1957.

 

Margaret is survived by her two sons, Kimbel (Elaine) Earing of Kempton and Philip Earing of Kempton; two grandchildren, Kyle (Jennifer) of Lexington, Illinois and Lisa (Jeremy) Allen of Lexington, Illinois; five great-grandchildren, Adelyn, Eli, and Kendall Earing and Darci and Mackenzie Allen; one sister, DeNeyce Brantley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by both of her parents; two brothers, Donald Wright and Merlyn Wright; and special friend, Paul Angstman.

 

Margaret was a lifelong member of the Kempton Methodist Church and an active member of the United Methodist Women. After high school, she taught at The Sutton Single Room School House. Margaret retired in 1991 as the Kempton Postmaster. She loved to cook and do crossword puzzles. Margaret took pride in her gardening, quilting, and sewing. She had a special love for her dog, Lacey. Most of all, Margaret enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at the Kempton United Methodist Church with Pastor Deb Honegger officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior beginning at 10:00 a.m. also at the church.

 

Burial will follow the funeral service in the Broughton Township Cemetery near Campus.

 

Memorials may be made to the family’s wishes.

 

Arrangements are by the Knapp-Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman.
