Sharon (Myers) Schmidt born on June 27, 1942 to Charles Hanlon and Effie (Call) Hanlon in Pontiac, Illinois. She married Robert “Bob” Myers on August 8, 1961 and lived in Piper City, Illinois before moving to Oklahoma in 1974. Her and Bob raised their kids in Oklahoma and then moved to Texas in 1988. In 2018, she moved back to Oklahoma to live closer to three of her daughters. She was a devoted Catholic, and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church, Muskogee, Oklahoma. Sharon also accepted Jesus as her Savior last year.
She is survived by her six children, Robert (Gay Lynn) Myers of Coweta, Oklahoma, John (Debra) Myers of Denton, Texas, Kelly (Bart) Wiedel of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Annita Myers of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Annette (Jessie) Hobbs of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, and Tammy (Jay) Morgan of Splendora, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; siblings, John (C.J.) Hanlon of Emington, Illinois and Mary Bhalla of Naperville, Illinois; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Joan Smith of Piper City, Illinois; and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Hanlon; mother, Effie (Hanlon) Manis; father-in-law, Everett Myers; mother-in-law, Edna Myers; first husband and father of her children, Robert “Bob” Myers; second husband, Jerry Schmidt; sister, Colleen Jones; brother-in-law, Keith Jones; sister; Shirley Burkhart; brother-in-law, Jim Burkhart; brother-in-law, Virender Bhalla; five brother and sisters-in-law, Joe and Lois Boma, Roger and Helen Kelleher, Alec and Mary Ellen Crandall, Bob and Shirley Yana, and Wayne and Marilyn Bouhl; one niece, Gina Jones; and three nephews, Tony Kelleher, Bill Smith, and Dan Crandall.
Sharon retired from Walmart in 2011 after working there for a total of 26 years as a cashier and door greeter. She enjoyed gardening and canning. Sharon loved to read romance novels, doing puzzles, and liked traveling with Bob who was a truck driver.
Visitation will be from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025 9:30 at St. Peter Catholic Church Parish Hall in Piper City with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church in Piper City, Illinois. Fr. Santiago Corona will officiate. Burial will follow in the Brenton Township Cemetery near Piper City.
