Glen "Whitey" Wellington Drilling, 88, of Buckley

Glen “Whitey” Wellington Drilling, 88, of Buckley passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025 at his home. He was born on December 5, 1937 on the family farm, a son of Wellington and Eunice (Bishop) Drilling. Glen married Jean Breymeyer in Idaville on February 24, 1963, and she survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Donna (Tyler) Jean of Cissna Park, Cathy Kurtz of Royal, Lori (Chris) Griffin of Danville, IN, and Betsey (Patrick) Evans of Springfield. He adored his six grandchildren, Chelsea (Nick) Samet, Jessica Jean, Katie (Alex) Rodriguez, Kristen (Kyser) Blakely, Grace Griffin, and Colin Evans, and his three great grandchildren, Brinley Rodriguez, Haley Rodriguez, and Matilda Samet. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Wesley Drilling, Donald Drilling, and Roy Drilling; and four sisters, Lois Stouder, Ethel Brantley, Doris Kogler, and Rose Mary Letlow.

 

Glen graduated from Cissna Park High School, where he was a standout athlete in basketball and track and still holds the pole vault record using a bamboo pole. During high school, he was an FFA member where he proudly served as Sentinel. In 2024, he was inducted into the Cissna Park FFA Hall of Fame.

 

Glen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cissna Park and was an award-winning dairy farmer for over 40 years. After high school, he bowled with the Cissna Park Outlaws, played basketball with the Cissna Park Chicks, and enjoyed his time in the US Army Reserves. Glen was an avid Illini fan and a huge fan of Larry Bird. He dedicated his life to providing for his family and caring for his corner of the earth and all its creatures.

 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 10:30 am at the Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park with Rev Dale Fjordbotten officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 18 from 3:00-6:00 pm at the Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park. Burial will be in the Cissna Park Cemetery. Graveside Military Rites will be conducted by the Cissna Park American Legion.

 

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Cissna Park or Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
