C. Marlene Bokker, 84 of Ashkum passed away on Tuesday December 9, 2025 at Miller Healthcare in Kankakee. She was born on December 6, 1941 in Watseka a daughter of Gilbert and Marie (Reynolds) Helton. Marlene married Harold Roy Bokker in Kentland, IN on December 30, 1973 and he preceded her in death on June 13, 2015.
Survivors include three sisters- Gayle Weber of Watseka, Jayne (Don) Ducat of Clifton, and June Benjamin of Limestone; one brother- Gary (Stewart Hall) Helton of Orange, CA; sisters in law, Shirley Bokker of Clifton, Ruth Linster of Kentucky, and Joyce (Ed) Farris of Michigan; brother in law, Alvin (Mary Ann) Bokker of California; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Greg (Pam) Helton; brother in laws, John Weber, Don Whynott, and Dick Wade; in laws, Larry, Earl, Duane, and Sharon Bokker, Agnes Goller, Edna Johnson, and Clara Cassetto; and one infant son, Jason Preston Bokker.
Mrs. Bokker was a member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church and CCW. She bowled, was a member of the Legion Auxiliary, Jr Women’s Club, Lions in Ashkum, and was a team leader for Relay for Life for many years and was proud to be a top money raiser. She owned Bokker Apartments and previously owned Marlene’s Tap in Ashkum.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 10:00 am at Assumption BVM Catholic Church in Ashkum with Fr. Doug Hauber officiating. Burial will follow at Ashkum Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton.
