Georgia L. Potts, age 72, of Sheldon, passed away in Kankakee, Illinois on Monday, December 1, 2025. She was born July 23, 1953 in Watseka, the daughter of Ernest A. Grove and Elsie H. (Toelstede) Grove.
She married Charles O. Potts on April 7, 1974in Watseka. They shared 51 years of marriage and raised two daughters.
She graduated from Watseka Community High School and Kankakee Community College. She was an assembly worker and then line supervisor at Littelfuse Watseka and then as a teacher aide for Iroquois County Special Education.
Her interests were bowling, geocaching, baking, playing cards with friends and cake decorating. She was a Girl Scout troop leader and enjoyed collecting cookbooks, trying new recipes and reading romance novels. She learned floral decorating helping in her mother's West Side Floral Shop, and made cemetery wreaths and floral arrangements for friends and family. Family vacations to Florida and Arizona gave quality time with husband and the girls.
Georgia was a life member of the Iroquois County Historical Society and the Genealogical Society, a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church of Watseka, Calvary Ladies Bible Study group and the Veterans Of Foreign Wars post.
Georgia is survived by her loving husband Charles of Sheldon; daughter April Potts and friend Mark Weaver of Golconda, Illinois; daughter Angela Potts of Watseka, Illinois; grandson Damen Whittington and wife Taylor of Chandler, Arizona and granddaughter Sophie Deem of Watseka; one uncle and numerous cousins.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Helen A. Shipley and Susan M. Myles, and sister-in-law Mary A. Scholin.
Visitation will be on Saturday, December 6, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to the 2:00 p.m. funeral service all at the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka with Rev. Aaron Uphoff officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at the Iroquois Memorial Park near Watseka.
