Dale Gercken, 82, of Watseka

Dale Gercken, 82, of Watseka passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025 at the Iroquois Resident Home in Watseka. He was born on February 4, 1943 in Aurora, a son of Louis and Helen (Green) Gercken. They preceded him in death along with one daughter, Michelle Perzee.

 

Dale married Karen Duby on April 27, 1968 in Watseka and she survives.

 

He is also survived by two daughters, Christi Sheals of Crestview, Florida and Amy (William) Creek of Piper City; two grandchildren, Kaylen and Emma Creek of Piper City; three siblings, Roger Gercken of Ottawa, Myron Gercken of Watseka, and Carol (David) Percefull of Lafayette, Indiana.

 

Dale loved hunting deer and arrowheads. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War. Dale was a member of the Watseka American Legion Post 23.

 

Visitation will be on Friday, November 28, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka and also one hour prior to the funeral service. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025 also at the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka with Joe Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Anne Township Cemetery with graveside military rites by the Watseka American Legion Post 23.

 

Memorials may be made to the Iroquois Memorial Hospice.
