Darlene E. LaReau, 97, of Ashkum and formerly of Chebanse passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. She was born on March 26, 1928 in Chebanse, a daughter of Frank and Minnie (Haslow) Emme. She married Rommell LaReau in Beaverville and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dennis; one daughter, Vicki Wilkening; and ten brothers and sisters.

 

She is survived by one daughter, Diane Siebring of Ashkum; one son, Randy LaReau of Clifton; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in law, Marie Emme of Chebanse, Lois Emme of Danforth and Sharon Emme of Kankakee; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Darlene had worked at Mortell’s in Kankakee. She loved watching the Cubs and spending time with her grandchildren.

 

A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Sts. Mary and Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Chebanse.

 

Memorials may be made to the family’s wishes.

 

Arrangements are by the Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton.
