Alfred L. Ponton, 78, of Chebanse passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025 at Miller Healthcare Center in Kankakee. He was born on June 18, 1946 in Kankakee, a son of Emile and Myrtle (Hartman) Ponton. Alfred married Joyce E. Bradford on October 22, 1966 in Chebanse and she preceded him in death on August 31, 2014.

 

Alfred is survived by one daughter, Christine (Jose) Villafuerte of St. Anne; one son, Alfred (Jason) Ponton of Bradley; and three grandchildren, Manuel (Haley) Villafuerte of Coal City, Vanessa (Mark) Senesac of Bradley, and Daniel (Wendy) Villafuerte of Chebanse.

 

He was also preceded in death his parents; one brother; three sisters; and one great-grandson, Connor Villafuerte.

 

Alfred was a 30-year member of the Moose Lodge in Bradley.

 

A private graveside service will be held at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in L’Erable with Deacon Ed Szymanski officiating.

 

Memorials may be made to the Miller Healthcare Center in Kankakee.

 

Arrangements are being handled by the Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton.
