LaNette Yates, 58, of Watseka passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025 at her residence. She was born on November 21, 1966 in Watseka, a daughter of James and Gayle (Kissack) Yates.
Survivors include her mother, Gayle Yates of Watseka; sister, Tondra (Todd) Harris of Cornell; nephews and nieces, Zach (Brittany) Harris of Cincinnati, Ohio and Spencer (Ann Marie) Harris of Woodworth; two great nephews, Nathan and Jameson Harris and one great niece, Rebekah Harris.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Yates; paternal and maternal grandparents, Lloyd and Luida Yates and Forrest and Christena Kissack; and great nephew, Brian Harris.
LaNette loved using a calculator to do math sheets and going out to eat. She also enjoyed listening to Christian hymns. LaNette worked for many years at the Welles Career Center. She loved to play many different games including UNO, Yahtzee, and board games. LaNette loved to help cook, especially if it included a dessert. She was passionate about fashion and her accessories. LaNette was known for her negotiating skills, which will be truly missed. She loved the staff and friends she met through the ARC, whom she considered her family. LaNette especially loved the van rides and golf cart rides.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. memorial service on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Centennial Christian Church in Watseka with Joe Hughes officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Body Cemetery near Woodland.
LaNette’s family is grateful to everyone who touched her life and cared for her.
