Virginia Harry, 85, of Kankakee and formerly of Crescent City passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth. She was born July 5, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Marvin and Miriam (Deaunee) Washington. Virginia married John Harry on August 22, 1959 in Crescent City and he preceded her in death on December 27, 1992.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Karla (Kavin) Sampson of Kankakee; three grandchildren, Thomas Kollmann, Amanda Kollmann, and Paul (Lauren) Kollmann; three great-grandchildren, Emma, Adison, and Oliver Kollmann; son-in-law, Kendall Kollmann; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Kollmann; both of her parents; and two brothers, Thomas Washington and Sam Washington.
Virginia was a member of the Bourbonnais Church of Christ. She loved reading, puzzles, and hanging out with her grandchildren. Virginia was the secretary at Crescent-Iroquois High School for many years.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka with Rev. Scott Henley officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, Crescent City Fire/EMS, or donor’s choice.
