Melvin Marcotte, 82, of Clifton, IL passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth. He was born on August 3, 1942 in Dekalb, IL, the son of Oscar and Viola (Reynolds) Marcotte. He married Carol Lambert on March 3, 1962 and she preceded him in passing on February 23, 1989. He later married Rosalind Demers in Watseka on August 31, 1990.

 

He was also preceded in passing by his parents and a step grandchild.

 

He is survived by his wife, Rosalind, of Clifton, IL; four children, Melonia LeClair (Tom) of Bradley, Miron (Anne) Marcotte of Davidson, NC, Merle (Dawn) Marcotte of Ashkum, IL, and Milton (Julie) Marcotte of Frankfort, IL; two step children, Maria Pottinger of Vashon, WA and Joseph (Cynthia) Demers of Mountain Home, AR; ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren with one on the way as well as one great great grandchild; and eight step grandchildren.

 

Mr. Marcotte was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Clifton and was a lifelong farmer in the area. He was a member of the Illinois Farm Bureau and a thirty-year board member of Tri-Central Co-op while serving as a past president. He was also an Ashkum Township Trustee for twenty-one years.

 

Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 pm on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton.

 

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Monday, February 10, 2025 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Clifton. Fr. Doug Hauber will officiate. Burial will follow Ashkum Catholic Cemetery in Ashkum.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or donor’s choice.
