Shirley Louise Yana, 92, of Thawville passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Gilman Healthcare Center. She was born on January 18, 1932 in Gilman, the daughter of W. Everett and Edna (Reed) Myers. She married Robert R. Yana on July 4, 1954 in Thawville and he preceded her in death on August 20, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bob and William “Billie” Myers; four sisters, Lois Boma, Marilyn Bouhl, Mary Ellen Crandall and Helen Kelleher; and one grandson, Jason Yana.

 

She is survived by one son, Dwain (Suzanne) Yana of Thawville; one daughter, Jane (Dallas) Meyer of Thawville; two grandchildren, Nicole Yana of Bloomington and Eric (Angela) Meyer of Shabbona; one sister, Joan (Jim) Smith of Piper City; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Knilands of Piper City and Sherry Schmidt of Fort Gibson, OK; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Shirley enjoyed gardening, antiquing and quilting.

 

Cremation rites will be accorded by the Knapp-Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman and burial will be held at a later date at the Ridgeland Twp. Cemetery in Thawville.

 

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
