James J. Kunce, 87, of Watseka passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at his home. He was born on February 7, 1937 in Rankin, the son of Mearl B. and Anna (Clemens) Kunce and they preceded him in death in addition to three brothers, four sisters and one great-granddaughter.
He married Carol Jean Swanson on June 24, 1956 in Rankin and she survives. Also surviving are five children, Greg (Lori) Kunce of Holladay, TN, Jayne (Dan) Mushrush of Gilman, James (Tammy) Kunce of Milford, Gwen (Tab) Snyder of Charleston and Jill (Tracy) Scherf of Milford; twelve grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bernice Baker of Mattoon.
Mr. Kunce was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Woodworth. He enjoyed his horses and buggy and spending time with his kids and grandchildren. James worked for years as a barber and was a co-founder of Kunce’s Sales and Service with his son.
Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 23, 2024 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Woodworth. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Milford.
