Dale Verkler Sr., 90, of Watseka passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024.

 

Dale married Patricia Cook on December 3, 1953. This marriage brought three sons into the world. Robert Verkler of Lowell, In., Dale Verkler Jr (Butch) of Watseka, and Randy Verkler of Watseka, who proceeded him in death. Dale also had a helping hand in raising his nephew Kevin Verkler (Pam) and niece Karin Conley (Rodney).

 

Dale was blessed with 4 grandchildren Rachel Verkler (Eric), Brandon Verkler (Cori), Callie Barbee (Craig), and Brent Verkler and 2 step grandsons, Derek and Corbin Merkel, who he cherished. But, his favorite of all were his 17 great grandchildren who he considered his greatest accomplishments.

 

Dale retired from the Teamsters Union in the 90s when he learned staying home just wasn’t for him. Dale then went to work for ShowBus for another 20 years, only to finally retire when his wife Pat became ill.

 

Dale enjoyed fishing and woodworking, but his favorite way to pass his days was to sit on his front porch and watch the world go by.
