Dawn Bloodworth McDowell, 55, of Gilman passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. She was born on February 20, 1969 in Memphis, TN, the daughter of Eugene Bloodworth and Patricia Joan Schilb. She married Shawn McDowell in Burlington, IA and he preceded her in passing.
Surviving are two brothers, Richard (Judy) McKinney of Danforth and Ricky (Brent Duval) McKinney of Danforth; one brother in law, Mark Bowman Sr. of Burlington, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dawn was preceded in passing by her parents; husband, Shawn; and one sister, Deb Bowman Remick.
Dawn loved visiting Florida and had a passion for dolphins. She was an amazing sister, auntie, and best friend who had a heart of gold. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 pm on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton. A 1:30 celebration of life service will take place by Pastor Jim Harkins at the funeral home. Burial of cremains will be at a later date at Prairie Grove Cemetery in West Burlington, IA.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
