John A. Weakman, 64, of Roberts passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. He was born on July 9, 1960 in Pontiac, the son of Earl A. Weakman and Delphia (Epley) McCarty.

 

He is survived by three sisters, Pat Ulitzsch of Chatsworth, Karen (Craig) Ohmart of Danvers and Sheila Hornickel of Maroa; three nieces, Mandi Hornickel, Lindsey Hornickel and Jessica Hornickel; two nephews, Brian Hardesty and Josh Ohmart; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Delphia and Deururd “Red” McCarty; father and step-mother, Earl and Janet Weakman; one brother, Stephen Weakman; one sister, Linda Weakman; and one brother-in-law, Warren “Red” Ulitzsch.

 

John worked for Hicks Gas for over 35 years, was a Brenton Township Trustee for twelve years and Brenton Township Clerk for twelve years. He liked hunting and had a heart of gold and a wicked sense of humor.

 

A visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. graveside service on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Brenton Twp. Cemetery in Piper City. Pastor Deb Honegger will officiate.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
