Phyllis M. Murray, 93, of Milford passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center in Hoopeston. She was born on January 14, 1931 in Dry Valley, MO, the daughter of Frederick and Millicent (Halterman) Hagebusch. She married Arthur R. Murray in Pierce City, MO on September 16, 1951 and he preceded her in passing on October 20, 2022. She was also preceded in passing by her parents; two brothers, Oral and Gilbert Hagebusch; two sisters, Gladys Hardy and Mildred Honsinger; and her daughter, Lori Murray.
She is survived by two sons, Rob (Janice) Murray of Milford and Chris (Lisa) Murray of Ballwin, MO; one daughter, Carol Murray of Kittanning, PA; one brother, Leslie Hagebusch of Wentworth, MO; eleven grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren with two on the way.
Phyllis was a member of the Milford United Methodist Church. She was a longtime director and part-owner of Citizens State Bank of Milford and Dewey Bank of Dewey, IL. Phyllis was passionate about golfing and won multiple championships at Shewami Country Club. She also loved flower gardening, traveling around Europe, playing cards, backyard bird watching, and singing. Phyllis’ heart was happiest when surrounded by family, especially her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Knapp Funeral Home in Milford. Pastor Jerry Parker will officiate. Burial will follow at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Stockland.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the funeral on Thursday at the funeral home, from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon.
