David Lawson Eshleman, 78, of Onarga passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at OSF Hospital in Peoria.
He was born on March 23, 1946 in Watseka, the son of Lawson and Elsie (Kreeb) Eshleman and they preceded him in death. He married Sandra Scharp on November 13, 1966 at Zion United Church of Christ in Gilman and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, Tyler Eshleman of Gilman; two daughters, Tammy (Keith) McTaggart of Gilman and Tonya (Greg) Grills of Gilman; two granddaughters, Taylor McTaggart of Grand Rapids, MI and Olivia McTaggart of West Lafayette, IN.
He was a 1964 graduate of Roberts-Thawville High School where he enjoyed being a player on the Leprechaun basketball team. David served in the Army National Guard for six years and then became a life-long farmer. He had compassion, drive, and love for farming. He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ where he played for many years on the men’s softball team.
David enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, playing cards, watching sporting events, and spending time with his family.
Per his wishes, he will be cremated and private services will be held.
Knapp-Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman is handling the arrangements.
