Jose De Jesus “Chuy” Camarena Sanchez, 68, of Onarga passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at his residence. He was born on December 31, 1955 in Guanajuato, Mexico, a son of Jose De Jesus and Maria (Sanchez) Camarena Lara and they preceded him in death.
Chuy is survived by his partner of 37 years, Josefina Alvarado of Onarga; four children, Anna Camarena of Chicago, Jesus Camarena of Onarga, Erica Camarena of Onarga, and Maria Gaytan of Onarga; siblings, Teresa (Ramiro) Camarena of Nevada, Luis (Rosa) Camarena of Onarga, Javier (Blanca) Camarena of Gilman, Carlos (Aurora) Camarena of Nevada, Dolores (Pedro) Camarena of Oklahoma, Lorena (Amando) Camarena of Kankakee, Maria (Fernando) Camarena of Oklahoma, Manuel (Araceli) Camarena of Oklahoma, Elise (Miguel) Camarena of Florida, Liliana Camarena of Gilman, and Delia (Roberto) Camarena of Oklahoma.
Chuy was a member of Immaculate Conception/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Gilman. He loved music, karaoke, and especially the guitar. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, working on projects, restoring old vehicles, and loved providing for his family. Chuy worked for B & R Welding in Onarga.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Gilman with Fr. Santiago Corona officiating. Burial will follow in the Onarga Cemetery.
