Marjorie R. Anderson, 94, of Watseka went to her eternal home June 9, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born April 24, 1930 in Beaverville Township, the daughter of Roy and Laura Winslow Purdy. She married Glenn R. Anderson March 19th, 1950 in Morocco, IN. He preceded her in death on October 27th, 1995. In her earlier school years she was educated in Iroquois County and graduated from Morocco High School in 1948.
She is survived by three children. Arlyn ( Theresa ) Anderson, Milford, Sharolyn ( Bob) VanHoveln, Milford, and Dennis ( Nancy ) Anderson of Champaign. She has eight grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly. Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
She worked side by side on the farm with Glenn for many years while raising three children. She went to work at the Per Pak Corporation after a devastating farm loss and worked there for many years. She also enjoyed working at the Donovan High School as head cook for several years. She loved doing things for others and loving on her friends and family. She loved nature and feeding the birds. Her hobbies included collecting recipes, sewing, and quilt making.
She was a member of the Donovan Methodist Church where she was a choir member and belonged to the Martha Class hosting many ladies’ gatherings.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Christopher Francis will officiate. Burial will follow at Beaver Cemetery near Donovan.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday, from 9:00-10:00 am.
