Martha B. Stanton, 70 of Watseka passed away unexpectedly on Friday May 31, 2024 at St Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee. She was born on May 14, 1954 in Los Gatos, CA a daughter of Philip and Frances (Kanzler) Buskirk. She married Dr. Richard D. Stanton in Santa Clara, CA on October 15, 1977 and he survives. Also surviving are one son- George (Jessica Crawford) Stanton of Springfield, IL; two daughters- Ruth Stanton (Eric Hengesbach) of Carmel, IN and Rebecca Stanton of Bloomington, IL; three grandchildren- Teddy Stanton, Clara and David Hengesbach-Stanton of Carmel, IN; three brothers- Charles Buskirk of CA, Philip Buskirk of FL, and James Buskirk of CA. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Martha graduated from Santa Clara University, was a retired school teacher, and served on the Watseka Public Library Board. She was an accomplished pianist and taught music for many years. Martha enjoyed quilting, gardening, baking, reading and developed a flair for artwork later in life.
Visitation will be on Friday June 7, 2024 from 3-5 pm at the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka and colorful attire is encouraged. Private burial will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Watseka Public Library.
