Merlyn Dale Mallon, 91, of Watseka, Illinois, joined his beautiful wife in heaven on Monday, May 13, 2024. He was surrounded by the love of his family at his home.

Merlyn was born in Earlham, Iowa on July 12, 1932, the son of James Emery and Orpha Elizabeth Mallon. He married Cora Mallon, the love of his life, on June 4, 1955 in Watseka. Merlyn was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, where he spent most of his time in a submarine. Merlyn enjoyed his grandchildren, helping others, woodworking and trains.

Merlyn was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by three children, Michael (Nancy), Twila, and Tammy (Steven), eight grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.

A private service will be held at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka with Merlyn's beloved brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Sherri Harder officiating. Burial will follow at Lyman Cemetery in Watseka with graveside military rites by Watseka American Legion Post #23.
