Michael L. Hines, 78, of Sheldon, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood. He was born on October 4, 1945, the son of Jim and Loretta (Schaumburg) Hines. They preceded him in death. Michael married Bonita Trumann on December 18, 1965 in Watseka and she survives him.
Michael is also survived by his sons, Bradley (Kris) Hines of Waleska, Georgia, and Jim (Alisa) Hines of DeMotte, Indiana; one daughter, Nicole (Bryan) Warren of Kentland, Indiana; and 7 grandchildren.
Michael was also preceded in death by one brother, Charles Hines, and one sister, Elizabeth High.
He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Milford, where he served as the treasurer and was a member of the choir. He was also a former member of the Singing Men of GNN. Michael enjoyed mowing and tending to his yard, golf, stock car races, traveling, watching sports, especially the Cubs, and most of all, supporting his grandchildren at their events. During his working years he was the plant manager at Lifetime Doors, and most recently he drove a bus for South Newton School Corporation.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 12, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Knapp Funeral Home in Milford. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Milford with Rev. Doug Minton officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Creek Cemetery in Stockland.
Memorials may be given to Our Savior Lutheran Church in Milford or the Gift of Life Transplant House in Rochester, Minnesota.
