Franklin "Frank" Wayne Davis, 92, of Watseka

Franklin “Frank” Wayne Davis, 92, of Watseka, passed away Monday, April 1st, 2024, at Iroquois Resident Home in Watseka.

 

He was born on July 25th, 1931, at his parents’ home in Muncie, IL, a son to Earl and Pearl (Hayes) Davis. Frank married Myra Jane Hale on August 16th, 1953. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Lloyd Davis at the Potomac Methodist Church; they were blessed with 68 years of marriage. Myra preceded him in death on February 28, 2022.

 

Survivors include two children, Timothy (Karen) Davis of Watseka, IL and Kathleen (James) Both of Watseka, IL; one daughter-in law, Bonnie Davis of Butler, IL; three grandchildren, Christopher (Kailei) Both of Watseka, IL, Tyler Davis (Shannon Miller) of Knoxville, TN, and Katelyn Davis (Colin Corriveau) of Watseka, IL; great grandsons, Courtland Both and Beckett Both of Watseka, IL; sister, Bonnie Spain of Danville, IL; sister in law, Sheryl Hale, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

 

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Franklin Wayne Davis Jr.; two brothers, Ernest Davis and Emil Davis; and three sisters, June Davis, Norma Wilson, and Wintress “Wink” Christoff.

 

Frank spent his childhood in the Potomac area, graduating from Potomac High School in 1950. He took over the family farm at the age of 20 when his father passed away. For the remainder of his working career, Frank enjoyed working in the agriculture industry, finishing his career as a Vice President and Loan Officer for the Kentland Bank. As a young man, Frank enjoyed playing baseball, hunting, and fishing. He served as a Specialist 3rd Class for the United States Army in Korea. Frank was a member of the American Legion, Watseka Masonic Lodge #446, and the Valley of Danville Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite. In his retirement, he enjoyed watching baseball games, fishing, and shooting with his friends and grandkids. Frank and Myra enjoyed 20 years of fun, warmth, and friends as they spent winters in Ft. Myers, FL. From fishing in the Gulf to Sunday brunch at the Sunflower Café with friends and the visits from family, they enjoyed every moment of their time in Florida.

 

Frank was a person of faith and family and was a long-time member of the Watseka First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 9am until 11am on Saturday April 6, 2024, at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Masonic Rites will be held at 11am with the funeral service to follow, Rev. Dr. John Davis will officiate. Burial will follow at Iroquois Memorial Park, Watseka, IL. Graveside Military Rites will be conducted by the Watseka American Legion and VFW.

 

Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice, St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, or Watseka Masonic Lodge #446.
