Olive May Burton, 98, of Sheldon

Olive May Burton, 98, of Sheldon, passed away peacefully February 3, 2023 at Watseka Health Care Center. Olive was born March 3, 1924, in Orange County, Indiana, one of the twin daughters born that day to Thomas and Lora (King) Robbins. Olive married Richard R. Burton on May 29, 1943 in Sheldon. He preceded her in death October 29, 1992.

Olive was a 1943 graduate of Sheldon High School. A devoted mother and wife, she also volunteered for many local causes. Including the Sheldon Alumni, American Cancer Society, Sheldon Community Fund, Sheldon Grandmothers Club, Sheldon Meals-On-Wheels, Sheldon Road Runners and Sheldon Square Shooters 4-H Clubs. She loved creating with fabric. Gifted at sewing and quilting, her works are proudly displayed in the many homes of her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Each year for many, she pieced together quilts that were raffled to support the Robbins Family Reunion.

Surviving are two children, Ronna Jean (Earl) Pope of Greenwood, IN and Terry Richard (Debora) Burton of Sheldon. One daughter-in-law, Ellen Burton of Sheldon. Seven grandchildren, Jeff Renville, Scott (Tiffany) Renville, Matthew (Kristin) Burton, Myla Burton, Aaron (Whitney) Burton, Ryan (Savannah) Burton and Cayla Carlson. Eleven great grandchildren, Nicholas Renville, Colin Renville, Regan Renville, Rowan Renville, Ava Burton, Farrah Burton, Chace Burton, Hadley Burton, Knox Burton, Olivia Burton, Bryson Burton and many nieces and nephews. Olive was preceded in death by her parents, her husband. Also, two children and one son-in-law, Roberta Ann Renville and Ronald Renville, and Thomas Charles Burton. Also, twelve brothers and sisters, Ester Robbins, Cecil Robbins, Mary Robbins, Faith Beach, Monroe Robbins, Paul Robbins, Chester Robbins, Ollie Burton, Ruth Burton, Victor Robbins, Alonzo Robbins, Johnnie Robbins, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 3, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka, IL, with funeral after visitation. Burial will follow in the Sheldon Cemetery.
