Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Long, 90, Watseka

Elizabeth “Betty” Jean Long, 90, Watseka, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Iroquois Resident Home in Watseka.

Betty was born on August 23, 1932 in Cissna Park, the daughter of Albert and Mollie (Hopman) Martin and they preceded her in death. She married Robert Long on August 22, 1953 in Watseka and he preceded her in death on March 12, 2000. She was also preceded in death by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert “Bud” Long and Bill “Big Bill” and Kathy Long; one brother, Jerry Martin; and one niece, Sheila Gensler.

She is survived by two sons, James “Jim” (Kathleen) Long of Watseka and Timothy “Tim” (Laura) Long of Avon, IN; seven grandchildren, Jenny Long of Watseka, Matthew (Natalie) Long of Arlington, VA, Andrew (April) Long of Watseka, Kevin (Debra) Long of Monon, IN, Kristyn (Levi Sowers) Long of Watseka, Chris Long of Indianapolis, IN and Rachel Long of Fishers, IN; one brother Bill (Joyce) Martin of Danville; one daughter-in-law, Lori Long; and one great-granddaughter, Willow Long.

Betty was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Watseka, Ladies’ Aid, Watseka Band Boosters, as well as Cub Scout Leader. She was a homemaker, worked at ASAC, and was a playground supervisor at Glenn Raymond for many years. Betty enjoyed crossword puzzles, NASCAR, and the Chicago Bears.

Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Pastor Jim Harkins will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka.

Baier Funeral Home in Watseka is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Preschool or Watseka Food Pantry.
