Charles E. Janssen, 88, of Clifton passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022 at his residence. He was born on February 25, 1934 in Covington, Indiana, a son of John and Mary (Thorne) Janssen. Charles married Dorothy J. Siedentop on March 7, 1953 in Herscher and she survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Alan (Wanda) Janssen of Herscher and Kendall Janssen of Crescent City; two sisters, Phyllis Booi of Momence and Rosalie Simoneau of Clifton; nine grandchildren, Michael, Kelly, Dawn, Jeff, Brian, Eric, Heather, Brittany, and Jason; and six great-grandchildren.

Charles was preceded in death by both of his parents; four brothers, Elmer, Raymond, Donald, and Lee Janssen; two sisters, Margaret Schurr and one infant sister; and two sons, David and Phillip Janssen.

Charles was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Herscher. He was a former member of the Clifton Lion’s Club. Charles loved to travel. He farmed in the Clifton and Herscher areas.

Funeral services will be on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Herscher with Rev. Eric Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Herscher. Visitation will be two hours prior to the funeral beginning at noon at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Herscher or Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth.
