Donald Ray German, 76, of Watseka

Donald Ray German, 76, of Watseka passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 peacefully surrounded by his family at his son’s house in Lagrange, KY.

Donald was born on June 20, 1946 in Watseka, the son of Kenneth and Barbara (Sapp) German. He married Vera Kolitwenzew on October 4, 1969 in Watseka and she preceded him in death on June 28, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bill German; one son, Jim Vanderwal; and one granddaughter, Shelby Vanderwal.

He is survived by one son, Travis (Debbie) German of Lagrange, KY; one daughter, Nicole (Aaron) Corum of Lagrange, KY; six grandchildren; Emily, Allison, Sydnie, Kinsley, Cody, and Daniel; one sister, Kendra (Terry) German of New Port Richey, FL; seven great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Pam German of Sheldon; and one daughter-in-law, Tara Rader of Earl Park, IN

Donald served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He loved the Navy and telling stories about his time in the Navy. He was a volunteer firefighter in Watseka for many years. Donald enjoyed truck driving, fishing, and his family more than they will ever know.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Joe Hughes will officiate. Burial will be at Iroquois Memorial Park in Watseka with graveside military rites by Watseka American Legion Post #23 and Iroquois County VFW Post #7450.

Memorials may be made to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.

Arrangements are being handled by Baier Funeral Home in Watseka.
