Robert J. "Bob" Sherry, 90, of Watseka

Robert J. “Bob” Sherry, 90, of Watseka passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth. Hew was born on March 17, 1932 in Chicago, the son of Ralph and Lydia Sherry. He married Joanne C. Strough in Gilman on December 11, 1977 and she preceded him in passing on December 16, 2020.

Surviving are four children, Kathleen Sherry of Tempe, AZ, Robert Sherry of Florence, AZ, Kevin Sherry of Grayson, GA, and John Sherry of Mesa, AZ; three grandchildren, Gary H. Sherry, Caitlin R. Sherry, and Madeline R. Sherry; one brother, Ralph Sherry; one sister, Donna Narlock; one brother in law, Dale Strough; one sister in law, Darlene Hummel; six nieces and nephews, Jason Strough, Jennifer VanTreese, Matthew Strough, Lori Ried, Robert Hummel, and Karen Moore.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded passing by his parents; one brother in law, Ray Hummel; and one niece Emily Strough.

Mr. Sherry served in the United States Army and was called up during The Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Edmund Catholic Church in Watseka as well as a member of Watseka American Legion Post 23. In his early years, he was plant manager of several carton manufacturing companies. He later became an entrepreneur with his wife Joanne, owning and operating BJS Enterprises which sold industrial paint equipment. Bob had a hobby of antique cars and was in a Model A car club.

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.

Funeral mass will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at St. Edmund Catholic Church in Watseka. Father Vern Arseneau will officiate. Burial will follow at Gilman Cemetery in Gilman.

Memorials may be made to St. Edmund Catholic Church, Iroquois Memorial Hospice, or Watseka American Legion Post 23.
