Wendell R. Drew, 76, of Watseka, formerly of Kempton

Wendell R. Drew, 76, of Watseka, formerly of Kempton died on Monday, November 21st at Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth. He was born on September 26th, 1946 in Kankakee to Vilas R. and Irma (Malone) Drew. They preceded him in death. He married Carol A. Dubea on October 25th, 1975 at the United Methodist Church in Iroquois.

Survivors include his wife Carol, of Watseka, two daughters and son-in-law, Amy and Chris Curry of Watseka and Lisa Drew of Mundelein; three grandchildren, Devin and Allie Lindemann, Conner Curry, and Claire Curry, a great-granddaughter, Skye Lindemann, and several cousins.

Born and raised in Kempton, Wendell was employed at R. R. Donnelley and Sons in Dwight for more than 40 years. He was a member of the Kempton Fire Department and served on numerous church councils, both in Kempton and more recently in Watseka, where he was active in various church activities and the Watseka Area Food Pantry. He loved his hometown of Kempton, but loved spending time with his grandchildren more, prompting a move to Watseka in 2015. He spent countless hours attending all their sporting events and school activities, cheering them on in whatever they were involved in. In the community, Wendell never knew a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. His sense of humor, positivity, and quick wit were unmatched and he loved to share a good story anytime he had the chance. His love for his family was endless and we were blessed to call him ours.

Visitation will be held from 10am-12:30pm on Saturday, November 26th at the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka, with a 1pm funeral to follow at the First United Methodist Church in Watseka. A private family burial will take place at Mona Township Cemetery in rural Kempton at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Iroquois Memorial Hospice or the First United Methodist Church of Watseka.
