David "Dave" Alan Sobkoviak, 81, of Iroquois

David “Dave” Alan Sobkoviak, 81, of Iroquois went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday night, October 13, 2022, at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee surrounded by his loved ones. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Monday, October 17, 2022 at Living Hope Church, 546 North 6th Street in Watseka, IL. Pastor Ben Stone will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Dell Cemetery near Iroquois.

David was born on May 8, 1941 in Watseka, IL to Edwin and Leora (Beckman) Sobkoviak. He graduated from Watseka High School in 1959 and worked at UARCO for 42 years. David enjoyed spending time with his family and church friends, reading his Bible and Western fiction novels, tending his gardens, and fishing in the Great Lakes region. He was often seen and heard singing and playing his guitar whether it was from his arm chair, sitting on the deck, or in church. He was also an avid woodworker making special gifts for his children and grandchildren.

David is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann and his children, Penny Beckman and her husband, Sonny Beckman, Pamela Dirks and her husband, William “Bill” Dirks, Robin Burger and her husband, Tom Burger, Jeff Sobkoviak and his wife, Michelle Sobkoviak, and Sara Sobkoviak and her husband, José Ocampo, and 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and his younger sister, Jane Queller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Leora, and his older sister, Mary Ann Everett.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Donor’s Choice.

Arrangements are by the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.
